Have you added the reference to System.DirectoryServices in your project settings?

You appear to be using "VBScript" and "VB.NET" interchangeably. The two languages are VERY different.
So which is it? Are you using VB.NET or VBScript?

Sorry I noticed just now that I'm using vbscript

Show the code you have. Using types from the .NET Framework is not possible in all cases and you can't convert, line-for-line, the code you see in C# to VBScript.
VBScript cannot do a "new" of the DirectoryEntry class. To create an instance of a COM-exposed class in VBScript, you have to use CreateObject().

Hi everyone, I am new to VB.NET and wanting to create a small program which processes data from one CSV file to another.
example: I want to convert these fields into
Brand Mftr Code Description Long Description Dove Code RRP Price Qty Category 1 Category 2 Category 3 Image URL Product URL Barcode Current Due Date Stock Classification
__ Below mentioned fields.
Supplier ID; Active (0/1); Name *; Description; Short description; Meta title; Meta keywords; Meta description; Image URL
Is there any possibility, that I can create an application which manipulates data.
Any help would be much appreciated. TA
Cheers!

Yes, but you probably need to spend some time getting familiar with some of the .NET classes that will help you. If you just want to read and write in csv format then you will need to use File and Stream I/O - .NET | Microsoft Docs[^] to read and write the data. The Working with Base Types in .NET | Microsoft Docs[^] will help in actually manipulating the content of the strings that you read.

Hi all,
I am totally new to VB.NET.
I am looking for a tutorial on how to create a VB.NET front end and MS Access database as background program.
I want to be able to generate an invoice with multiple lines of items, using a DataGridView to capture the data entry, and then store this invoice into an MS Access table.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Tutorials are posted all over the internet and the best way to find them is to use Google. You can also go to the Articles section here on CodeProject* and see what is available on the subjects you are interested in. But if you are totally new to VB.NET you may find much of the information somewhat advanced.

My pc is connected to my local network through 192.168.1.5. Is there any way to get some string content through the browser? For example a very simple vb net code which will receive the string "HELLO" from the browser when i write 192.168.1.5:8888/HELLO ?

The question is not clear. Where are you writing this text? A browser can only read what is presented by a website, so you need a webserver listening on the IP address at the port 8888.

That sort of implies "pushing" content from an unknown source to the browser which doesn't work easily.
You current browser shows content because it "requested" that content from an end point.

Hi,
i want to get GPS data frm my mobile phone using VS 2017 VB.net.
My question is, how to read the mobile phone serial data.
My OS is Windows 10 and i don't have serial ports, only USB.
Kind regards

You need a connection between your PC and the mobile phone. You also need an application running on the mobile that will present the GPS information when requested.

Hello,
Hope that someone can help me please?
I am using MSO8104A scope for my measurement and using vb.net as visual basic language. I have been stuck to one problem for a long time. The problem might not be very big for though.
I am using save waveform comment to save data from the oscilloscope. Once I save one group of data in one file I want the send group of data to be saved in the same file rather than creating another file when I am running a loop. Please can anyone suggest me which comment or code I can use to append the data in one file other than having many files?
Please kindly help!
Thanks

Open the file for appending. All explained in the documentation.

If it's all just "string" data, then you can just use File.AppenAllText.
If it's in another "format", then you need a custom solution that only the vendor's documentation can answer.
File.AppendAllText Method (System.IO) | Microsoft Docs

I like to use regions to collapse code but in VS 2019 the regions are not collapsible and are not marked as outline elements. Any idea if these are configurable?

Regions are working for me in 2019. The +/- button to expand/collapse is on the left border of the window just like it's always been.
It may be turned off for you. Type "region" into the new search box at the top of the VS window and the first item listed should be "Show outlining for comments and preprocessor regions". Make sure that's turned on.

Damn this was supposed to be in the Visual Studio forum.
