Make sure you write using the correct xml/html syntax (Notice the quotes):
<input type="text" id="t1" onblur="myblur()" />
<input type="button" onclick="myclick()" />
I've tested it and it works.

I have been tasked with maintaining our companies web site while our current web developer is on leave. While most of the tasks are rather easy even with no web development experience, I'm having some trouble with validating the syntax of my code. Due to the nature of the site, the pages have to be checked onto a staging server before they can actually be run. Doing this takes about 10 minutes, which slows things down quite a bit if you, for example, mismatch your parentheses. Are there any sort of syntax checkers out there that can be run on a file to detect gross mistakes like this?
Also, this web site is rather ancient, and the original developer is no longer with the company, leaving both myself and the current web developer at a disadvantage when it comes to determining where things are and how they are laid out. Are there any tools available that can digest a web site and display it's layout? I have encountered large amounts of dead code so far, and with grep being my main tool, simple changes can take a lot longer then they should.

I moved some asp.net code out of a page loaded as an iframe (Calendar.aspx) and put it into the content placeholder that was calling the iframe (WelcomeMain.aspx), effectively moving it one level higher.
When my code was in the iframe, I had access to all the controls from the c# codebehind and it worked just fine.
After I moved the code, I get the following errors:
'WelcomeMain' does not contain a definition for 'MainCal' and no extension method 'MainCal' accepting a first argument of type 'WelcomeMain' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
and
The name 'MainCal' does not exist in the current context
I made sure I have all the same USING statements in WelcomeMain that I had in the iframe.
When I type into the codebehind, intellisense sees that the control MainCal is there and it has the properties and methods I need, but when I build the code, it dies on every reference. It also dies on every reference to all my controls in the codebehind, yet I can see them when I type into the code.
There is one diference that may or may not impact me: WelcomeMain has a master page and the iframe did not.
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I have a web rostering application that was developed on visual studio 2003.
I want a functionality to continuously run in background, to check something (such as shift started or not).
If started then it should pop up something to confirm the action.
For that I need a program to run continuously in background. Let say example may be (saying "Hello" every 5 minutes on message box")
I used
Response.Write("confirm('Hi Krunal !!! How Are You ?')")
on application start...........i want to make it run continuously in background, and after every 5 minutes it should be visible by user irrespective of the page he is on.
Bye

Hi,
I am trying to call a javascript function on the onlick event of a button.
<asp:button id="EnterBtn" runat="server" text="Enter" onclientclick="return status();">
status is a function in javascript in the same page.
There is an error: object does not support this action.
I even tried all these forms:
"javascript:status();" , "javascript: return status();"
Thanks,
|
|
|
|
|
Have you tried: onclientclick="status()" ? Sounds like you may have an error in your status() function.

Yes, I have tried that. It does not matter what is in the status function. I have tried it even with a function that does not do anything.
Please Help!!

Could you write your full aspx page code here.

It is very long! But, this part is not related to the other parts.
|
|
|
|
|
(i) Use OnClientClick = "javascript:return status();"
(ii) Check whether the javascript function is enclosed with the following block or not:
If problem still persists then post the js function which you wrote.
Either you love IT or leave IT...

Hi guys,
I'm having difficulty displaying my navigation bar in Opera. It's a menu bar with rollover buttons and drop down menu. When a drop down item is clicked it changes the src of the iframe below.
It's working perfectly in IE, Firefox and Chrome but not in Opera. The 6 parent menu items display, with working rollovers, but i get no dropdowns from any of them.
I've looked through my opera settings and can't seem to find anything.
If anyone has any suggestions as to why this would happen I would be very grateful to hear them.
Best regards
Martin

Then a load more javascript to define the button, name, href and target of each sub menu item. It's quite hefty so i'll post if needed
Thanks

well your rollover images look fine. but thats not the problem here is it? is the site online?

Afraid not, this is just development on our existing site.

Well I suggest you do a search on google for "opera css issues" or similar and find out if ur dropdowns use any of the problematic css. there are usually hacks to stop certain browsers doing certain things - but unfortunately, I don't tend to support opera because of how few people use it - so I can't give you examples.
You could try looking in Firefox's error log (Tools > error console) - that might point you in the right direction with warnings. And better still, if Opera has a similar log, do the same.

I need your help on how to get the actionscript variable so that i can display it using PHP...
This is my code, i wan to pass the num to PHP, so how should i write in PHP? Imagine there have 2 files, this actionscript is in .as file while PHP code in .php file. So, need to make the num become global var?
private function UpdateFriendListHeader():void {
var num:String = '';
if (friendList.length > 0) {
num = ' (' + GetListOnlineCount(friendList) + ' / ' + friendList.length + ')';
}
uxFriendListHeader.label = 'Friends' + num;
}

a button could pass two variables to a webpage as follows:
on (release) {
getURL ("middle.php?var1="+var1"&var2="+var2, "_blank", "GET");
}
if you dont want to display the webpage then I suppose you could use "sockets" or something
