That was a mouth full, I can't figure it out. This is my first Dropdownlist in MVC 5 and Razor
So I can get the Dropdownlist to load the values, but if the edit fails, the values don't persist. I'm sure I don't have to load it again in ActionResult with HttpPost.
I can't figure out how to set the value on edit or page load.
And I'm not sure if the value is picked on on postback, but I'll work on that part now.
So here's what I have now.

Well it works, but I'm sure over time I will figure out a more efficient way to do this.
I did complete this 2 hours after the first posts time stamp.
In the Model, I change the Security Level to a string, and just casted it from int to string and back in Linq for my Entity Framework.

[Edit] Persist across postbacks
In the Controller to make the values persist across postbacks, I found you do have to call the class function twice, once for ActionResult and once for ActionResult Post. So sa.AdminSecurityLevels is my Dictionary of Key Values.
sa.AdminSecurityLevels = SelectListHelper.GetAdminSecurityLevels();
In my Class, in App_Code, I made a helper that is called in the controller above.
I wanted to use IEnumerator, but could not figure out how to get it to work, so I went with Dictionary. I guess since my security levels are integers, and the HTML5 uses all strings in the option element, I just went with <<string string>>

Finally the View, this part was hard to understand using Razor. I don't quite understand the use of m => m.SecurityLevel versus Model.AdminSecurityLevels or m versus Model.
The new SelectList converts the Dictionary to a Key Value Pair that Razor can use to create option elements out of the collection.

Now the weird part, is that I had to reverse the Key Value to Value Key. That part I don't understand.

Final Thoughts on this, wow that was a lot of work just to populate a dropdownlist or radiobutton list. I suppose in my future, as I write more code for these list, I will build a collection of them such as states and countries, and I can just add to the model, call it in the controller and just add it to my razor statement in less than 60 seconds.
Getting the whole thing to work including the jquery.unobtrusive.validator, Bootstrap.Css, MVC in general as a first time for me was a pain in the ass. But flashing back to Webforms and using new Listitem did take me a while to figure out as well. Oh well, new technology, hopefully it pays off in the future for me.

I have a file upload control and "onchange" of it I'm calling a "javascript function" and through that javascript method I'm invoking a "event" in the code behind.
But when I'm trying to check whether there exists a file in the file upload control it always says "false".
Please suggest me that how can i get the uploaded file in the code behind.

File upload controls lose their state when the form is submitted, this is by design and is a security feature. You need to re-architect your solution such that you don't need to do a postback when the item changes. This could involve storing the file temporarily on the server, or some other mechanism. We don't know enough about your goal to know what the best approach could be.

I need to create an web application which shows the floor plan(Iteractive Map) of a building and in the building we have to locate our devices(using Drag and drop method). i googled to much but i could not find any complete tutorial. I do not have too much experience on .Net .
So I need some ideas on how to do this.There is any ways of doing this. Please suggest.

Your issue is more to do with client-side technology than asp.net. Displaying something like a floor plan is going to need something a bit more advanced like html5 canvas

Lots of canvas tutorials if you google. The coordinates etc you can store in a database and have your asp.net generate the appropriate js that will draw the required shapes. For dragging and dropping google "jquery drag drop".
This isn't a trivial exercise though, if you're e beginner at .net this isn't a good starting project. It'd be best to go through some books on c# and asp.net first to understand the basics.

Main issue is with UI.
I have a box(with unique number) and it contain of 9rows and 9 columns i.e. total 81 slots.
4 slots are reserved per person sample i.e. 4 slots will be reserve per person.
Issue is that when sample of 20 clients are filled in slots i.e. total 80 slots are filled. The next sample of client will be store on box 1 81st slot and remaining 3 will be store in first 3 slot of box 2 and so on.
one logic is that we provide a list of checkbox with already filled slot corresponding that box will be disable and only next 4 checkbox will be enable. When he click on 81st checkbox the box number automatically changes to next box and 1st three checkboxs will be enable.
I have the logic but dont know how to implement the code.

When I try to download the quotes which are using Crystal Reports, I am getting the below error:
An error has occurred while attempting to load the crystal reports runtime.
Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
Please help me with this.

when am accessing my application starting from login page to three more pages then session timeout resets for each pages...does session timeout reset for each page at the time of navigation from one page to other...if so the how can session time be retained for a single user until he is done with his operation.
just for testing i put session timeout to 1 but when m navigating from one page to other time is resetting...i.e for each page it starts from 1 itself ...but i want it to start from the time that it has left in prev page for next page and so on.Please suggest me how could it be done.

The session timeout resets with each request, that is how asp.net works. All you can do is increase the timeout if it isn't enough for you, but you can only increase it by so much and even then there is no guarantee your session won't be recycled by IIS. You should write your site in such a way that it gracefully survives session timeouts.

Not really, IIS manages your sessions for you, all you can do is give a suggested timeout.

The session timeout in the config applies to all users, but if you want to change it on a per-user bases then you can set the timeout in the code using Session.Timeout and that will change the timeout just for that user.

It sounds like using the Session isn't the best solution for whatever it is you're looking to do. Look at things like Cache to store data as that gives you more control over how long things stay valid for. You can specify explicit and sliding expiration.

thanks for the response now please read my requirement and provide best possible solution...if user is booking any slot then at the time of he booking slot to some specified time which is to be given.. till that time only he could book the slot otherwise session will get expire..and at the time of he booking slot if other user also logged in n booking the same slot that prev user is booking then for new user it should be shown as booked or slot is not available .

You're using confusing terminology, when you talk about Sessions people think you mean asp.net Sessions, you mean something completely different.

Good day sir. I develop my projet with asp.net mvc and i use Crystal report v13 embedded in VS2013 to generate my report.
When i preview my report it was ok but when i try to print the report with printer epson lx-350 esc/p the quality of document print was too bad.or sometime the format of paper was change to landscape to portrait.
I really not understand beacause when i try to print the same document with another printer the result was excelent.
Please if somebody can have and idear and explaind me what i can do.

If your print quality is down then please check your printer 'printing density' or 'Color Density'

So I have a MVC website project using Entity Framework.
I'm new to c#, so perhaps this is a c# issue. And I'm new to MVC as well.
I wrote a seperate project for the EF, and attached it to the MVC Project so I can work on both at the same time.
Everything was fine until I changed the namespaces in the EF DLL.
I renamed the namespace for all the Model classes DAL_MODELS
and the Context to just DAL
I removed the reference, and added it back again.
Whats weird, is I can add the DAL in the Controller files, but not the files I wrote in App_Code.
I did use folders to organize the files
\App_Code\EntityFramework\Admin
\App_Code\EntityFramework\Contact Us
Reference my DLL Assembly
The DLL is names MVC.DataAccessLayer with the 2 namespaces below.
Using DAL;
Using DAL_MODELS;
I wanted to rename the namespaces to the files in App_Code, but not having a luck with it.
Like to App_Code.EntityFramework so I can make 1 reference to it.
I just scratching my head on this.
