Try replacing ' to " .
Are you trying to do something when LinkButton is clicked ? Is yes you can handle this using ItemCommand event, instead of passing querystring on postback.
|
|
|
|
|
Yes that's what I wanted to do, passing query sting upon clicking on link button, I was under the impression that placing it on Postbackurl will do shorted job I might look on HyperLinkColumn instead.
Thanks,
I'll still figure it out.

i am doing an application i which, iam having a form which includes textboxes,and cascading dropdownlists and one gridview.
what i did in the code is, when i click on the gridview i wrote a stordprocedure to take all values wat i want from the database and bind it in one datasetand assigning the dataset values to the corresponding textboxes and dropdownlists .
for ordinary dropdownlists, the values are populating correctly in their indexes using this code as show below
dropdownlist.SelectedIndex = dropdownlist.Items.IndexOf(dropdownlist.Items.FindByText(dataset.Tables[0].Rows[0]["column1"].ToString()));
but for cascadingdropdownlist,this code willnot work
if any body knows the answer please reply me

Hi,
What is the differents between calling a Stored Procedure like an ordinary sql using 'EXEC' command and by specifying the command type is StoredProcedure? Which one is the faster?
//Example of calling stored procedure like an ordinary sql statment
Dim Cn As New SqlConnection("server=.;database=sample;uid=sa;password=;")
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("EXEC SP_EXAMPLE", Cn)
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
//Example of calling stored procedure with command type is StoredProcedure
Dim Cn As New SqlConnection("server=.;database=sample;uid=sa;password=;")
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("SP_EXAMPLE", Cn)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
Thanks and Regards,

calling stored procedure like an ordinary sql statement will work faster than the other because in the ordinary method it executes directly the command specified in the sqlCommand() where as in the second case it need to check for the CommandType has it is Stored Procedure so it needs to create a command to execute stored procedure with the specified stored procedure name.

By specifying new SqlCommand, it already created SQlCommand object. I think there won't be much difference for these two methods. What I feel second method is smarter, because it gives a clear picture to the person who is seeing the code that we are using stored procedures.

Thank you so much sandeep. I think it is almost same. Isn't it?

There won't be much performance difference. But I think second one is the smarter way.

Yes you are correct. It is the standard way.

The latter. It is standard, universally adopted practice. There is a proverb "Be Roman while in Rome right? "

Flooding from Bangalore
Today's News Headlines was telling that all rivers in Karnataka are overflowing and flooding into Tamil Nadu.
I guess, keeping up the spirit, you are flooding the messageboards with the same query.
It is water there and query here.
Bottomline: Please avoid cross-posting and duplicate posting across multiple unrelated forums and intimidate users.
