The clue is in the name SQL SERVER 2005. SQL Server is designed to run on server editions of Windows. The only two exceptions to this are the Express Edition (which is limited and so is not scalable) and the Developer Edition (which is not licensed for production environments).

Hello
Isn't it possible to create a new GUID while you're in a UDF?
I've tried the following:
set @ID = NEWID()
but that doesn't work.
Thank you in advance
|
|
|
|
|
NEWID()[^] is a non-deterministic function (because it produces a different output each time it is run based on the same input, which is nothing). User Defined Functions[^] cannot contain non-deterministic functions.
See the second linked item for a list of other functions you cannot use in a UDF.

I have a problem with my project.
In this project, we have two options to view the details of a particular employee details.
1. we have provided a new desktop(say X) for this project
so u can view the details of particular employee number.
2. Here, another option(say Y) is also available. From this also, u can view the details of any employee number.
My problem is,
Now I am able to view the details of from Y, but not from X. This is occuring for only one employee number. The remaining employee numbers are working fine and I can able to see the details from the two options(ie., X and Y).
front end is ASP and database is SQL Server2000
So what is expecting error here??
I need this urgently
if any can provide the result, i will be thankful to them

Sounds like a problem with your application logic. However you have not provided any details on that. You just provided vague information about the user interface in abstract.

Here new desktop means, We created new interface(say Y) to access the applications of project through this desktop only. This is a web application and this is provided for client side.
And another thing, you can view this data from another interface(say X) also
Now the Problem is, here we are seeing the data about a particular empnumber from X only. And this particular empnumber is not visible from Y.
And this is happening for only one empnumber. And the remaining all empnumbers working fine.

pls guys help, how can I update more than one record in the table, actually I need to update dates, adding 12 months to the dates.
eg.
data from DB
date approved expiry date
2005/05/12 2005/11/12
2005/05/28 2005/11/28
2005/06/28 2005/12/28
so how to I add 12 months to the date approved so as to get the expiry date extended with 12 months.
getting something like this:
latest data expiry date
2005/05/12 2006/05/12
2005/05/28 2006/05/28
2005/06/28 2006/06/28
pls guys pls I need a C# code to do that.;P

C# code does not alter the database, the best it can do is to forward some SQL code to the database. You need SQL code to solve your problem.
The SQL you need is something like this:
UPDATE MyTable SET [expiry date] = dateadd(year, [latest date]);

You have to enable SP-Debugging in the .net-project.

Put multiple statements in the SqlCommand .
For example:
INSERT INTO MyTable(a,b,c) VALUES (@a1, @b1, @c1);
INSERT INTO MyTable(a,b,c) VALUES(@a2, @b2, @c2); Just separate the statements with a semi-colon.

To write something you have to know more about your values being a string. If the alpha characters range is "aa" thru "zz" also if the numbers part of the string "0000" thru "9999" and if between them the value does not matter. Then I could write you something.

There is one thing I can't figure out with VC 6.0 & ADO. How can I change the 'Background Fetch Size' (DBPROP_ASYNCFETCHSIZE) property of the recordset running asynchron? It's the number of records retrieved between two fetchprogress events. It's default is 15.
It's easy to do it in VB, but in VC++ before opening the recordset, I don't have any dynamic properties available, after executing the SQL the property is read only. I suppose if it's possible in VB it must be possible in VC++ 6.00 as well. I've hard times finding any docs about it even in SDK. As far as I know this OLEDB property is supported by the Cursor Service, which is initilaized when changing cursor to adUseClient.
Any idea?

anig1234 wrote: How can i export data in SQLServer 2005 Tables as SQL insert Script.
What I do is have my SELECT statement output the appropriate script
SELECT 'INSERT INTO MyTable(Column1, Column2, Column3) '+
'VALUES('+Column1+','+Column2+','+Column3+');'
FROM MyTable
Then I can copy the script out of the query analyzer into a text file (actually you can have the query analyser write it directly to a file, but you have edit it afterwards to remove the other bits and pieces it writes out)
