I agree but thats the way you will have to tackle this problem else u might have to write some by yourself to parse a doc.
All the best !!
Let me also know if you tackle this problem

Does open office provide automation? I'm not sure what the OO licence says about bundling with non OSS apps though so this might not be an option.

CleaKO The sad part about this instance is that none of the users ever said anything [about the problem].
Pete O`Hanlon Doesn't that just tell you everything you need to know about users?

I really didn't get what you have mentioned above. Could you be bit clear so that I can also understand?
Thanks

I don't understand the complete question, but does the "PerfomClick" method, of the System.Windows.Forms.Button class help you?
All the best,

What do you mean "in browsers"?
I can tell you how to do that from a windows form application which has a WebBrowser control on it. That has most of the functionality of IE. Isn't this what you want?

thanks ...
can you guide me ...

An simple example of how to do an automatic search on google:
Place a WebBrowser control on your form.
Use it's navigate method to load the google page:
MyWebBrowser.Navigate("http://www.google.com");
In order to access the controls on the webpage and use the you need to know what their names are from the html source of the page. If you take a look at google's source you'll see all the controls, and among them these two:
<input maxlength=2048 name=q size=55 title="Google Search" value="">
and
<input name=btnG type=submit value="Google Search">
The first one is the text box where you type the text to search and the second is the search button.
So, all you need to do is fill the text box and after that simulate clicking the "Google Search" button. Like this:
<br />
HtmlElement searchBox = MyWebBrowser.Document.All["q"];<br />
searchBox.InnerText = "code project";<br />
HtmlElement btnSearch = MyWebBrowser.Document.All["btnG"];<br />
btnSearch.InvokeMember("click");
Hope this helps.
Have a nice day!

I forgot to mention. There's a very quick and easy way to find the name of the controls you need from a web page. It's called Firebug. It's a plug-in for Firefox. Just use it.

Hi All,
While parsing an xml document using Xpath navigator how we can check whether a node has child nodes or not. Tried using both HasChildern and IsEmptyChild but no luck.
I should be able to differentiate between
<test>
<node1>No child</node1>
<node2>
<node3> child 1 </node3>
<node4> child 2 </node4>
</node2>
</test>
How to diff between node1 (no children) and node2 (which has children)
Thanks in advance.

Has child nodes should work fine!
Check your xpath correctly, for best examples with xpath refer w3schools!

Hi,
Thank you for your response. My XML file is
<Countries>
<Country>
<Name> Singapore </Singapore>
<Address>
<State>IA</State>
<PostalCode>20</PostalCOde>
</Address>
</Country>
</Countries>
My Xpath is selecting country element. So how can i differentiate between name element and Address element.
Thanks,

I have the following line of code:
sqlAdapter.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter(strParamName, strParamType, 10));
strParamName and strParamType are strings.
Now, the sig of Parameters.Add is as follows:
Parameters.Add(string, SqlDBType, int);
The value of strParamType is one of the SqlDBType's i.e. "VarChar", "Int", "Bit" etc.
How would I convert the value of strParamType to make it SqlDBType?
Thank you.

Well the first question I would ask is Why are you passing in strParamType as a string, can't you simply pass the SQLDBType instead, they are Enums afetr all. Otherwise you'll have to have a switch statement to select the correct database type from the string passed in.
Always look for the easy option
Mark.

Thank you for the reply.
I read the parameters from a text file that is why I need to determine the type of the parameter from the string programmatically.

Use the Enum.Parse method to parse the string into an enum value.

Mark Greenwood wrote: you'll have to have a switch statement to select the correct database type from the string passed in
Or you could just use Enum.Parse
|
|
|
|

you all suggested to use enum.parse must be the way to go although i can't try it right now (no compiler).
anyhow, the problem above is similar to the following simplified version:
if( strType == "int" )
{
//instantiate an int i.e.
Add(varInt, int, 10);
}
thanks for the help... hope enum.parse is what i am looking for.

Is it a good idea to have my Data Access Layer on Web Service?
What I mean is, All communication of different tier with the underlying database must all be done using XML web sevices.
What are the Cons and Pros of my idea?
Thanks in Advance.
