Does it normally take this long to get answers to questions. Any idea (or even a guess) what I can expect to pay to get someone to provide the answers to all my questions as listed above. I'm in a bit of a hurry (to make my million with the solution I want to develop ) Cheers.

Getting answers is just like fishing with a bait, You need patience to get someone respond to it. If you ever say you are in a hurry,It's like stirring up the pond. No one will respond! And moreover present your question in a better way, for ex:
Using <pre> , <code> tags when you paste a code.
init()
<br />
DrawGraph(x,y)
instead of saying "Hey!,I've got a problem, Hurry up!".. Ok good luck ..
Note:Sometimes you get a shoe in your bait! , It's all in the game! byebye

I didn't understand some of the technical presentation methods you spoke about, but as for the rest of your message: "Pure Words of Wisdom". If they were your own, you're gonna go very far in life. If you "borrowed" them, you'll probably go further. Kind of like the saying: When I'm good, I'm good. When I'm bad, I'm even better.
PS: I hate fishing. Imagine if fish pointed sticks with hooks toward the beaches and said: "Let's go humaning"

I've seen this in a pop video[I think it's by Aerosmith]. The concept looked really good :->
IMPORTANT NOTE:
CB, this is a technical forum, So OTs [Off-Topics] wouldn't look good[& Chris won't like it too] if we are going to take it for more than 3 replies. So when we want to say something that's non technical we can go to
"The Lounge"^ This is a garden!!
And if you wanna blast something, about politics, religion, terror, or anything simply :"Suitable for only above 18 stuff" you can go to the
SoapBox^ It's a dreaded island! just like the kingkong's. or the Jurassicpark, it's boudaries are fully livewired!
And if you wanna say something to someone personally, you can go to their blog page, for example you'd wish to make a visit to my cp-homepage, so you can click on the icon that's on the left of my name. It takes you
here^

Could you produce code to show me how to apply validation (together with helpful messages) so that if any one of four input boxes on a form do not contain integers from 1 through 10, then clicking the Run button must fail to run the applet. Instead, this action should produce a dialogue box to specify which input/s is/are unacceptable.
I am using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework).
Thanks in anticipation.

Your questions are funny. Most are available within MSDN docs. The first thing you need to learn in programming is how to look up your own information. You're just asking for trouble with so many intro questions. This one here though is fun so I'll answer it.
No code though. Do your own work.
The TextBox control has the event KeyPressed. Respond to this event and check the KeyPressEventArgs object var KeyChar to see what character is being pressed. If it isn't one you want, then set the Handled member to true. Setting it to false will allow the event to be handled by the system and allow the character entered.
Good luck, you need to study some.

How do I generate a labelled Table of (x;y) co-ordinate pairs, where:
Input N = the number of co-ordinate pairs,
Input A = the X Value of the first Co-ordinate pair,
Input B = The Y Value of the first Co-ordinate pair and,
X = (1.2 * Y)

Hi again
Is there any way to customise the Tab Buttons on forms, so that they each have a unique colour and a 3D look?
I'm using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework)
Thanks.

Hello All.
Is there any way to customise the Tab Buttons on forms during run time to indicate to a user that there is something on the tab that they need to check out.
For example: If a click event on one Tab updates info on a few other tabs, the updated tabs should change colour so as to let the user know that there is "stuff" on these tabs that they need to check out. I am using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework)
You dealing with a Newbie, so kindly keep the Fog Index as low as possible.
Thanks in advance

How should I code a click event on a button in one Tab sheet, so that it performs an operation on another Tab sheet.
For example: On first Tab Sheet User Inputs two numbers that are to be added, then clicks the "Go" Button, and the answer appears in a label on the second Tab Sheet.
I'm using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework.
Thanks in advance.

Hi all.
How do I import 2 identical images (1 in colour, 1 in greyscale), so that they are superimposed (with colour image on top of the greyscale image). The images must still be able to respond to any mouse down, Hide or click event code, that I may need to write. I'm Using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework). I do not understand loads of programming jargon. Will really appreciate clear code. Thanks guys.
Thanks Guys. Chunky

Hi all.
How do I load a series of images onto a form after the form loads, and then remove these images from memory when the form is closed.
Also: where can I store these images within the software so that they can ship with the app?
Details if possible please. You dealing with a learner. Using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework), Thanks in advance.

Heh heh... code huh?
Look into the System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox object. Read the docs. Digest it. And you might have an inkling as to what to do.
You store them as an embedded resource that you load into the project. Search MSDN on resource management.
Since you're a learner, you'll get no details. You get that from a good book or two.
Here's a thought. Search CodeProject for articles that have some of the things you're interested in and look at the code. You're gonna have to do some work while learning.

Using (x;y) Co-ordinate pairs from a Table, I would like to draw a highly Simplified Graph by joining each successive co-ordinate pair to the next by means of a straight line. I'm a Dummy/Newbie/Idiot Programmer. How do I do this? I’m using VB.net for Pocket PC (Compact Framework).
Thanks in advance.

Ok, your pretty funny. You need to buy a book. Work out the algorithms. Test your code. Debug your code. And then you might have what your looking for.
Look at the System.Drawing namespace for methods for drawing a line.
I don't do VB code so you're on yer own.

Hi, I have a few comboboxes on a form. Let's name them LHS (left hand side) and RHS. Whenever I click LHS, I want RHS to reset to it's 0th element.
However, when I click an element in LHS, LHS resets to it's 0th element but will still show the proper items in RHS even though LHS is reset to it's 0th element. There are no pointers to objects being used.
What could be a culprit of this problem? Some windows message? I checked the message maps in the class wizard and combo messages are cleared (except CBN_SELCHANGE, of course).

|
|
|
|
Well, I think I figured out the problem.
A) The original person who wrote the code wrote a lot of garbage.
B) There were 3 or 4 (I'm writing from home, now, so I don't remember the exact particulars) functions named the same in 3 or 4 different classes (which is fine, in and of itself); however, the coder used references to the view and app classes to access these functions using ALL public variables for any variable that was needed. I mean, what ever happened to keeping private data private?
C) Anyway, there was another function, being called by my OnSelComboChange event, that got called a couple of times via the original coder. Its decl: InitializeItems(int); That's right - Initialize. Called multiple times throughout the class. Nice, huh? Initialize a variable ONCE, people. Call an Initialize function ONCE, people! Also, this function performed multiple, unrelated processes which should not have been lumped together.
After breaking that function up and strategically placing the disected pieces where there should have been, everything started working fine.
meh.

Hi Everyone
Well, I have a silly problem. I made an ActiveX for Windows CE 4.0 using VS2005 and I can call methods and set/get properties but the code related with that functions never was executed.
At the begining I can't call methods because I had problems with IObjectSafety interface.
I tried everything and now I am pretty frustated. The problem I think is weird maybe I am doing something wrong.
Thx for the help or some advices
PD. Sorry for my english

Hello everyone,
I am learning how to develop offline Web Services provided by Windows Mobile platform. I have some complaints here. At first, I admit that I am not an expert of this topic. Could anyone help to answer please?
1. Lacking of basic information of how to setup, do I need to setup anything beyond .Net Compact Framework 2.0 at client side? Do I need to setup some server? I can not believe such information can not be found from Microsoft web site.
2. Lacking of basic samples. Are there any available ones officially provided by Microsoft?
Maybe such information exists, but hard to find.
thanks in advance,
George

Do you want a project to work on or are you looking for a solution?
Sorry if my question seems silly, but I'm just a newbie to the programming world.
If you want a Project to work on, I can supply a few PPC Applet Projects for VB.net using CF.
Cheers.
