Hi. You make a application using the object LocalDataCache.sync
Dim syncAgentS As ServerDataCacheSyncAgent
' Chiamare SyncAgent.Synchronize() per iniziare il processo di sincronizzazione.
' La sincronizzazione aggiorna solo il database locale e non l'origine dati del progetto.
syncAgentS = New ServerDataCacheSyncAgent
Dim syncStatsS As Microsoft.Synchronization.Data.SyncStatistics = syncAgentS.Synchronize()

Foxit and Adobe both have SDKs for writing a PDF viewer on Windows Mobile (which I presume would run on a generic CE 5.0 device) however, their royalty rates are a little steep considering how rarely this is used on most of our devices (but heavily used on others.)
Are there any other quality PDF reader SDKs for CE 5.0? (Quality being heavily emphasized--a while back we ran into issues on our XPe based device with SDKs failing with several PDFs.)
While on the subject, can anyone endorse a high quality imaging SDK for CE 5.0? (For reading and manipulating on screen a variety of images.)

How can I do this? I couldn't find anything about this on the internet.

Hey guys, I want to develop an application which runs on multiple (windows mobile 6.5) portable devices. All devices are hooked to a wifi network. Users of the application must be able to search and modify data. Which application will perform best?
- Create a webserver in the local network and let devices browse the website
- Run the application as windows mobile application and retrieve/update data using a webservice
- Run the application and the data on the local device and synchronise data between server and client.
Thanks,
Eduard

Choosing a type of application depends on functionality of your application. In your case, how often you need internet access.
If you need very less - like gather validate all data from user & then at once add/update record & you are done, then I would prefer 2nd option. Else I would opt option 1.
I wouldn't prefer option 3, as sync almost often - all time will consume time making app slow and if the net access is slow or failed in between then data might be lost or app may run more slowly.
Hope this helps.

Hi list,
I have written an mobile MFC application, which is using virtual Bluetooth ports and runs without problems in two mobile devices (HTC & SAMSUNG) both equipped with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. In order to achieve this, I have followed the instructions of an MSDN article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms881004.aspx) which only requires Windows CE 5.0.
However, when I have recently tried to run this same application in a brand new IPAQ equipped with Windows Mobile 6 Classic, (CE OS 5.2.1711) the RegisterDevice() function failed to do its job. Any ideas? Any suggestions where to look at?
I have also noticed that the Bluetooths settings GUI in this IPAQ device is quite different (compared to the others I have worked with) and doesn't assign a specific port number to each connected Bluetooth device, but has a (global?) pair of inbound/outbound ports. Is this because I am having Windows Mobile 6 instead of 6.1 or maybe because I am having Windows Mobile Classic edition instead of Professional? Any suggestions where to look at?
Thanks in advance,

So, I am considering the use of some of these tools, for the obvious reasons.
Anyone has any good or bad experience with any of them? Recommendations why, or why not?

With Cross platform also I have noted problems. Something may work in one type but fails in other, wheras some works on all. My experience doesn't feel them reliable.

I've googled around and looked in the help files but only seem to be finding more advanced stuff than what it is I need to do.
Using the "USA Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone R2 QVGA" emulator in device emulator manager I can start up the emulator, cradle it, and use Explorer on the host machine to copy in a CAB file, which is the installer for a program I want to test.
The problem is the emulated phone itself doesn't seem to have any equivalent of Explorer, so I can't browse to, and run the CAB file. I also can't find anywhere where the start menu shortcuts are kept using explorer on the host.
What is the most simple way to run the CAB file on the emulator?
This isn't actually for development by the way (though I do have Visual Studio installed) - I just want to try out a few applications in a sandbox environment before installing on my real phone.

I got referred to this site by a friend. I have a restored .3gpp file that is corrupted since i deleted it and it was probably overwritten. Is there anyway to restore it or at least salvage some of the video? I was told i could use a hex program to change the header with another video that works but i'm not sure how to do this.

make your mobile app save the location of the database file in the windows mobile registry.
on your desktop app use rapi.dll to read the registry value on the mobile, and fetch the file using rapi.dll
If the desktop application is writen in a .Net language you need to p/invoke the methods you need in rapi.dll.
Hope it helps.

Just an idea, but I thought SQL Server Compact Edition (SQL CE) created binaries compatible across all platforms using SQL CE.

I had a situation where I had to save data of Mobile App in Mobile & at the end of the day, data was transferred to PC.
Simply store the data in CSV, txt or such light weight format. While transferring to PC, parse the data accordingly. PC App & mobile App both will be knowing where the data is being stored, co no need to store path seperately anywhere. Yet you may confirm the path and/or ask for a new path from PC parser app of file stored in mobile.
Thanks & Regards,

I have developed & deployed one dotnet application "Dual Bar Code Scanner" on MC 3090 but whenever battery is discharged or removed from device, and attached again, all other applications exist there except of my application. I wish to know; do I need to register my application at the time of installation? or any other requirement is there to make my application stable...... please help me to resolve the issue

Change your Backup Battery in the MC3090. This will fix the problem of loosing your custom applications when you change batteries.
