Hi.
I have an xsl (xml stylesheet) doc with javascript in it. I need to call a c# method (which is located in a class in my project) from within the javascript. Is this possible? If so, what's a good way to do so?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you had a look at the ASP.net AJAX library?

The cleanest way I know of in terms of data transfer is the XMLHTTPRequest object, which I can't get enough of. It's fairly easy to use once you have a good set of javascript functions. There is a minimal one of these available at Quirksmode[^], which is the best JavaScript tutorial site I've come across.

Mmm. This is the same as the underlying concepts in the AJAX framework. It just provides a simple way of making callbacks to your codebehind rather than just to web services. All much of a muchness really.

Yes, the AJAX framework is built on this class.

I have an application where I'd like to read a javascript source file and generate a document object tree for the content that I can extract/examine elements from. I started by writing the lexical scanning logic by hand but have run into javascript syntax that breaks my initial scanning logic, so I determined that I really need some sort of parser that can construct a full grammar tree for the source being read.
I've found comments about Bison and CodeCOM that seem to imply this is possible, but I am having difficulty figuring out exactly how to do this or if in fact it will end up being more difficult then to just continue polishing my lexical scanning logic.
Can anyone point me to documentation or examples that discuss or illustrate doing this? My application is being written in C# and running as a local windows client app.
Thanks.

Neat. I'd go with finding a parser; there are so many special rules, escape characters, etc. etc. etc. that it's a huge project to write your own. Let us know when you're done, though.

I have a localreport that show/hide columns according to a hidden parameter value which is set during runtime (this works fine). I want to resize the width of the report at the same time. Is this possible?

Call a C# Method in Javascript Code like this
"<%= PrintMessage(); %>"
Here PrintMessage is a C# method that is callend in javascript after validation.

Hi,
I had a project checked out from source safe onto my PC, and I am getting the following error:
Error 101 Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Web.Services3, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Another lady has the same project on her PC and it works fine on her PC. As far as I know this reference is not used anywhere. I am using .NET 2.0, I have installed .NET 3.0 as well.
Please can someone get back to me.
Thanks
Brendan

Hello
i'm having trouble with the forms authentication of my site.
The site is a public site but it has an admin section which needs a login, i'm using Asp.net forms authentication which means that the files in the Admin folder, are protected.
When i run the site locally this works fine, but once the files are uploaded the user accounts don't seem to be valid anymore and i can't login.
I'm not sure why this is and was wondering if anyone could help.

Have you copied or setup the database also?

I set up the database using aspnet_regsql.exe and it is on the server's sql server. I have connected to it in the web.config file. And when setting up the users they ae set up in that database.
I think the problem is the application name of my project being used during the setting up of users i'm not sure it is the same when online so thats why its not finding the users, but i'm not sure how to change this.

I was just wondering, what if the physical database on the sql server is changed...like changing some field names and types of tables, I guess the all the stored procedures created through the xsd file will be useless..right and I'll have to rewrite them again??
I think this is stupid...what would be the solution to this problem?
|
|
|
|
|
Exactly...
This is why I never use typed datasets in 2.0 or higher. If you're going to take the time to create an xsd for your data object then you may as well make class objects and use generic lists to bind to controls.
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

You should have a look at a decent ORM tool, or if you're on .net 3.5, possibly the LINQ to SQL mapper.
|
|
|
|
|
Yup, and using an ORM tool your code will break at compile time rather than after you've deployed it to your big clients

Hello
I have a dropdown list on which postback is happening.
I am filling a dropdown below that. the problem is i am not able to set focus to either of the dropdowns.
any suggestion

You'll need to do it with javascript. Use ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript and something like myDdl.ClientId + ".focus();"

When I compile my ASP.NET website in Visual Studio, it does not give me any file/line information for the errors. Thanks to this, I cannot know where these errors even are.
How can I make it show error locations?

Have you looked in the errors window?

Yes. There are no filenames or line numbers there, either.
