how come you can use such control man.... nuts..
if you 'll use this control then it will be visible on the machine where the solution is hosted i.e. on server . so it will not be visible to client. then how a client 'd click on the button (yes/no) if the messagebox is not visible.
and also, the user can open the messagebox many times i.e. if the msgbox will be activated on a button click, lets say DELETE; user pressed DELETE . nothing happened (msgbox appeared on server not visible to client), user again pressed DELETE, and again and again.... a number of message box instances will get opened on server... who will close those instances MAN.....
you must use AJAX confirmation in this case....or the older way, use hidden panels(server side)

When you say grid, do you mean gridview?

Are you updating the database when you change the value?

r u accessing the textbox value on some event i.e. command name specified by you or you are simply trying to read the value under page refresh?
i think there may be chance you are binding the grid again and again on page_load.. htis will cause the case you have stated.

Hi,
I am trying to create a library of different web controls that can be easily added to any project. I need to create for example a customized composite control which contains both the file upload and a button. This must then be easily added to a project other than the one that it's contained in.
I tried using a web custom control and inheriting from base classes but was unsuccessful. How do I go about creating a project that will contain multiple controls that can be dropped into other projects?
Please help.
Thanks.

Create a web custom control, inherit from an appropriate base (control) and succeed...

Thanks for replying to my post. I've tried creating a class and inheriting from the fileupload control (for example) but how do I create a control that contains both a file upload and a custom button?
I even tried adding the extra button through code (see below for example):
Protected Friend WithEvents MyButton As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button
Public Sub New()
MyButton = New System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button
MyButton.Text = "test"
MyButton.Width = 100
Me.Controls.Add(MyButton)
End Sub
Can you suggest a solution? Do I need to add some code in the RenderContents sub?
Thanks.

Hi All,
I have a web service developed in .Net, I want to use it in my dot net application. I am trying to add it by using VS.Net add webreference. But after I do it, I am unable to access the WebSrvice namespace, class and webmethods. And mainly the .asmx file is not included in to my application.
Can anybody please suggest me what to do in this scenario.
But the web methods are accessible using web reference.
Thanks,
Aleem Mohammad.

First of all check the Domain rights...may be due to that reason you are not able to access the classes and methods. Also check the web refrence u have added is also added in your web.config file.
I think after doing this u will get access to webservice.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, what I want is to add deploy my web service in to a domain name called ent.jnpr.net(it is actually a system name in network) in this domain I want to keep it in a directory called "WebService". So how should I put it in [WebService(Namespace="http://tempuri.org/")] tag.
And please give me some idea how to access it in my sample web application just give me few steps.
Thanks a lot.

Just write a query to run when they update the id that checks if it already exists in the database and if it does show a label which displays error message
Why would they be able to update this field though?If its unique why dont you disable it

Hey,
Im trying to implement long-lived ajax connections (aka the comet pattern) in a WCF service I have written. The issue is the obvious gobbling up of ASP.NET threads - which would literally limit 1 per connection.
So, ideas started flying around - and the idea of an Async HTTP handler came to light, with the ability to send the processing of the wait loop in the connection to a different thread thus returning the ASP.NET thread back to the pool to process other page requests. THe bottle neck now still lives on whatever I employ to handle the waitloop (probably a custom TCP service, keeping a socket open)
So, I thought some more and wondered if it would be possible to have a Async Handler, that handed off execution to a service say 100 threads in which are typically looping around and these can be used to handle the wait loop for the long lived connection. Now if more than 100 connections exist, I thought about putting more than 1 connection on the same thread, which I think would require a custom TCP server. e.g
Client -> ASP.NET ASync Handler ->
Open Connection To Server Async ->
Send Request -> Async
Wait For Response -> Async
On the service I would use a non blocking socket calls (e.g the IO Completion ports, beginreceive etc..) to accept the connections and send and receive data, and it would put the connection handling the request in some sort of queue that can be handled by one of the 100 threads in the service. If more than 100 connections come in, it would start to reuse the while loops (e.g iterate, test messages for connection 1, iterate, test messages for connection 2... iterate, test messages for connection 3... )
Obviously those 100 threads would be configurable, and I may only need 10, or twenty ...
I am assuming that using sockets I am not consuming a thread until a Begin operation, e.g inbetween they waiting to be resused, which would essentially make the system scalable? And because Im not handling the wait loop in the End operation of the socket call, im not keeping the socket thread open, im handing it of to one of the 100 (or 10, 20) threads in the service which can queue automatically...
Any thoughts? I hope i Have explained myself correctly...

I read that article, and the comments indicate its using Flash Component for data transfer, which would explain how we can have a socken in the browser.
Im looking for a method that does not use anything on the client, apart from the usual Javascript available..
Its a different approach - so Im going to download the article code tonight and see how helpful it is.
Thanks,
James
