I am surprised by the result of the poll. Especially since the question could mean anything as it's not very well defined from my point of view. Does the question only means that how many people are using C++ to design their interfaces?

it could only mean people use other languages that C++/CLI to design the .net applications...

(my first post yay!)
...ive only been using .NET for about a year now and ive found C++/CLI to be a very nice way to interface with the native windows APIs (It Just Works!). I much prefer to use C#; i find it quite elegant for most tasks. C#'s platform invoke is great for small pockets of interop but wherever i need to do things on a more native level i employ C++/CLI. Usually in a managed class library where the grunt work is done. I dont think ive ever produced mixed mode assemblies, i just dont like the idea and have never pesonally come across an application for them. As useful as C++/CLI is for my purposes there are some language idiosyncrasies i find really objectionable compared to the relative elegance any easy use of C#.
I wonder, does anybody use C++/CLI in a similar way but for a different application?
I worship his divine shadow.

Who knows what's on the horizon. As of right now if I need to us C++ it will be unmanaged. That is why I use it. Otherwise I use C# if the situation calls for it

I like it to compile with gcc

(hum, at last, AFAIK).
actually, only unmanaged C++ for me, but i strongly think that if i had to come into .NET, id's switch into C# rather than C++/CLI... but that's only my feeling

Do you mean C++ over Command Line Interface ? Are you kidding ? In 2006 where Vista's Aero GUI is coming you want us to stick with 70' old fashioned user interface ?

It was just too tempting to make a silly joke with CLI

PS : I'm working on functional languages, so I don't think I'm *THAT* late. However I don't follow Microsoft's news quite closely, I must admit :/

naaa, the rename was an MS attack to the C++ standard, Managed C++ is still a better name C++/CLI is only intended to seed confusion

One of the most exciting features in Vista is the Monad command shell (PowerShell). So if you think command shells are 70s, you are in for a nasty surprise!

not to mention one of the worst named shells we've ever heard of at that. its about time they had a scriptable shell in windows.
it always sounds like a shortened version of "mono-gonad" to me.

Nope.... me.
Was attempting to start a project using it and was looking around for code snippets and documentation and found that that there wasn't much out there which spawned the question....
The results so far are interesting.
