I believe that it's FORTRAN - Not FOTRAN!!!
At least it was 30 years ago when I learned it (and haven't used it since)...

Yes, its depend upon the condition and requirement, e.g. for web based application JavaScript will always be faster than C# as its client side and For desktop development you can not use JavaScript as easy as C# so I think Language selection will vary condition to condition

C++ for the low level and speed and c# for fast productivity.

Well, I know that everybody is knocking Visual Basic, but it really ought to have been in the list. That way we could have gotten a true picture of its (un)popularity.
Merely having BASIC as an option is not the same as that can cover a wide range of Basic variants. That is like grouping C, C++ and C# together in one category...

I don't get what the big deal is with Visual Basic (as in why everybody hates it), it's just C# after a few pints and a kebab

Just stupidity. Actually, I think that VB is much more versatile than C#. But to me, there is no big difference. It's more or less just syntax (there ARE a few important differences, but nothing serious).
I don't think that the C# people (of which I'm also one) are ignorant of this, they just like feeling superior...

Having messed with basic (a looong time ago), Visual Basic, and VB.Net, to me they are not the same.
I can understand why most went to C# after working with Visual Basic (4,5,6).
