My options were blackberry or iPhone. My iPhone 3G is pretty tired but it was a good phone. I like android OS but iPhone is good too. I share an iTunes account with my old lady so it seem pretty logical.

Neither my current budget permits this purchase nor I have interest in it. I would prefer Android rather.

In the UK the most basic version will be about £530. Apple's "budget" phone (iPhone4) will be about £320.
For my sins one of things I do is write apps for the iPhone, but I think I may have to abandon that now - along with many other indie developers I doubt whether I would get my money back if I did buy an iPhone5.
I think Apple is losing the battle with Android - although I don't think I'll change to that platform - I'll probably give up on the whole mobile development thing (unless someone is paying me for it )
Having forced myself to use Apple products over the last few years I can see the appeal of their products (especially to non-techie types), but I think they are now losing the battle with Android - hence the need to resort to legal battles with Samsung (which is a bit like a thug who hits someone when they lose a verbal argument ).
I'm sure Apple will sell lots of iPhone5s (and I'm sure there will be an iPhone6), but I think the 87% "no"s and "probable no"s on here reflect the fact that "normal" people (as opposed to WAGs, MPs, bankers etc.) have better things to spend their money on.

I don't like some of apples policy. besides my whatever android operated phone offers me everything. Its always nice to me.
If I want to browse I can. If I want to play music I can. If I want to watch TV I can(I don't watch TV). So, why buy expensive device? never get that point.
Well, I also feel same when I wear sweatpants. I wish I can go to work wearing sweatpants.

Surely you want your favorite, or shall I say favourite Code Project employee to have the most up to date technology. right? So if you don't answer this post, I will assume that's a yes to expensing it.

Of course, after all you need to insure that members have a good user experience when accessing CP using the "test equipment"

I use these Xamarin products and are immensely helpful in helping C# developers write native apps in much less time than learning Objective-C etc. Keep in mind however that only some of your .NET experience is transferrable. For the most part you will still need to learn about how the operating systems and UIs work.
For anyone who writes code for a living these commercial products are worth their costs and support is excellent.
