I expect the US to send a preditor or two maybe if the dust doesn't settle soon.
Russia might step catching someone off guard.

It's a big currency - if it fails (and it looks like it might still) then it will have bad effects world wide, even for countries who aren't in it.
On the other hand, in order to make it work, they will probably have to unify taxation and public spending across the whole euro zone, effectively creating a superstate via the back door. Which could be very nasty indeed...
Lose - lose situation, it seems!

We already have civil disobedience - and nationalism, and its browner brother national socialism[^] seems to get more support than it has in over 70 years.

Give up. The euro is stuffed. It was a dumb idea in the first place. Which currencies will suffer? I don't think so. The great thing about the euro is that nobody else cares.

I've got a gut feeling the euro will go belly up, the good thing will be cheap holidays to Spain, Greece and Portugal. Time to dig up the old currencies lying in my drawers (Paseta, Drachma, Escudo).

That's my gut reaction as well. The hassle is that the holidays may be cheap, but chances are we won't have any money to spend on them either!

As 2011 was my annus horribilis, I am definitely much more optimistic about 2012. It can only go better after everything I went through in 2011.

I expect war and revolution; too bad we neither reject fiat currencies nor stop the tax on income and assets. History teaches us the cycles and repeats itself unfortunately; will we ever learn?

If we did, we wouldn't have repeating cycles.

what is optimistic : "Expecting or presenting the best possible outcome"
so if we want to be a BEST then we have to target it and move towards the goal.
human being is not satisfy ever with things he has, he wants more and more always.
so i think everyone will be more optimistic than previous year.
