Creates many others. It's a Hydra. Cut of a head, and suddenly you find 9 smaller heads instead ad infinitum.
Look at the most recent MS C version. Managed code. Great stuff if you want to write a high profile financial administration for a Fortune 500 company. A total train-wreck if you want to write a quick solution for an average problem. Which, by their very nature (being average), are the most common.

Sorry? I have been using C# for a couple of years now, and trust me, you can knock up a simple .NET program as fast or faster than you can a pure 'C' version.
Not only that, but it can be a lot quicker to develop a more complex problem in .NET just because all the basic donkey work is there, tested and working - and not just the really basic stuff either. .NET includes things as standard which are a pain to include when you "write a quick solution" if you need them for the task.
You only find 9 bugs when you fix one if you designed it badly in the first place, or fixed it badly later.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

To each his own. One can build a crane using a legoset or meccano. With lego it's cumbersome, buttugly and very limited in it's diversity. Lego decides what you can and can't do. With meccano (showing my age here) it's more versatile, slender and as buttugly or beautiful as you care to make it plus the only limit to what you want to do is the capabilities of the platform.

Comes with age John, once you reach a certain point where some jumped up little PM can't intimidate you then you begin to feel that god like ability start to infuse you.
I do feel sorry for the less experienced who know they are right but have to comply with the PM/manager who they know is a complete tool.

Yes... programming gives you the knowledge that even if you can send a rocket to Mars your job won't be understood and that anyone will be in position to discuss it (specially those without programming skills). Aaaand it also grants you that even if your app is something that has required 20 years of thinking/design, the only part that will be appreciated (if there is one) is that shiny button that you downloaded from the Internet in 2 and a half seconds.
Apart from this you learn almost all the habilities that are in the poll.

At first I thought it was a typo. What are 'abilities? Online dictionaries don't do a very good job of explaining it...

It was not a typo... it was a huge mistake!

Like the others most are things you should have before starting to program but that doesnt mean you dont learn new / better techniques.

Shockingly, some of us were programming even before Google existed. We had to use these funny things called books and magazines.
