People who would use a charger given away as trade show swag are obviously not giving much thought to the fact that those freebies are purchased from the lowest bidder.
Have those people missed out on all the horror stories about cheap chargers shorting or overloading batteries and causing fires?
A company I worked for once gave away some 64GB USB sticks with our company logo as freebies (back when 64GB sticks were still pretty much top end). Most of them wouldn't even write past the first 16GB without reporting errors. We concluded they were part of batches that failed QA tests and weren't supposed to leave their Chinese manufacturing plant.
At least USB sticks aren't something that have much of an opportunity to be plugged into a wall and burn down a house...

I know it's a fundamental violation of what swag really is. But I'm not wearing someone else's logo. No way, no how.
I'll condescend to have them on a mousepad or something. But not on clothes and such.

Worked several Internet World/Comdex/PC World, etc shows in the 90's. T-shirts would set off a stampede if the people came out on the show floor to give them out. I think the biggest (and messiest) draw was a popcorn machine. Alas, no one paid any attention to what they were selling.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

In my experience, all you get at the commercial stands is regurgitated information off the company's internet site; no one is present who can give you in-depth information. I might as well save my time (and my company's money), and do my research online, sending any questions I may have to the contact e-mail on the web.
OTOH, the technical (lectures) side is often excellent. The lecturers give clear, concise reviews of the subject, and even if I end up not using their technology, I come away with greater understanding.

The "effort / reward" ratio just got too low.
The time to get there, the time to get in, the time to find the booths you are interested in, the time to get info from a sales dweeb, the poor food and drink, the aching feet, the in terminable dross hiding the new diamonds ...
And I just didn't get enough new ideas from them to make it worth my while.
And don't even get me started on being an exhibitor on the stand - that's even worse!
