Recently, there was a discussion here about mouse buttons going bad very quickly.
Just stumbled upon this video[^] of a guy who also said he has to replace his mouse every 6 mos because buttons go bad so he built his own mouse.
Interesting explanation of the problem and solution.

I wondered if he had speeded his voice up like some of the video, so I played it at 75% speed. It didn't sound normal so I don't think he had speeded it up, but at least it was now slow enough for my brain to keep up.

I'm replacing mice every 5 to 10 years.

Also, you are lucky that yours are lasting 5 - 10 years.
I've had some that the buttons last 1 year on and they've had little use.
I think it's possible that there was a huge batch of really bad switches that were used in mouses (mice) for a while and if you bought during that time you got ones that lasted very short time.
I have some trackball mice (logitech) have lasted 30 years of daily use. It's crazy!
