Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has experience using smart glasses that provide multiple virtual monitors while coding for 8 or more hours.
I've seen demos and read articles about using such glasses for watching movies while on the plane, but I haven't found concrete information about real-life work scenarios like in the office, programming, etc., for extended periods.
The idea of having three 120" virtual monitors that disappear the moment you turn off your computer/laptop, and that won't harm your eyesight, sounds fantastic!
If anyone has tried this or has recommendations, I would love to hear about your experiences.

My eyes already need (somewhat high) powered spectacles. Is this to be worn on top of that?

When I read articles about VR glasses, my current conclusion is that they are not suitable for long periods of work. But yes, it would be interesting to try it out.

Googling all I find in regards to development is people writing software that someone else will run on their smart glasses.
Excluding of course marketing claims which I would not look at.

I signed up for www.sightful.com many months ago. Haven't received any information for the last 2 months and past articles/videos disappear from their site. I'm concerned they are just developing enough in hope of being bought out by someone.
There are articles out there about moving toward working in A/VR. (I currently use 5 monitors and have been waiting for the next headset that will better support using A/VR for work. Augmented or passthrough keyboard view, etc.)

I did some research on this about 6 months ago. I had an opportunity to do some long term traveling but I can take that much time off and I couldn't take my full 4 monitor set up or work effectively from a tiny laptop. I also work with confidential information and can't have people looking over my shoulder. VR goggles would have been fantastic!
I can't quote any specific articles or videos, but my overall impression was that the tech just isn't ready yet. I really couldn't chance it. I'm not sure about the new Apple goggles, but who has $3,500 for an experiment?

I have been experiencing "application X not responding " Linux Ubuntu since unknown "version upgrade ".
Posted inquiry about it on several forums and so far no response.
My guess is it has to do with Ubuntu "multitasking"... but guessing does not solve the issue..
Reason for this post
my hobby program - tracking radio response (pings) from meteor - runs "system call"
which takes roughly 12 seconds to complete - on the good day.
When Ubuntu decides to " application (my program ) not responding"
it takes about 5 to 7 seconds to post the message and then my system call
completion is unpredictable...most of the time Ubuntu does not recover..
HENCE
I am asking this forum to recommend alternative to Ubuntu
which is "user friendly " to QT.
I did ask Mrs Google and read few "reviews" , they are void of comments as far as
programming application , likes QT , so that is why I am posting this here.
I do not care if Linux flavor X is "Windows like" or faster then a speeding bullet...
I need to get rid of "application not responding ". Period.

What hardware platform is your app running on?
Are you sure it's Ubuntu and not the hardware you're running on?
Does it have enough memory?, etc..
As the aircraft designer said, "Simplicate and add lightness".
