It doesn't; it just slows the rate of change to the state of equilibrium with its environment.

Well I suppose that anything that intends to make something cold or something hot would need to have some way of measuring the temperature.
Otherwise one might expect that self heating coffee mug sitting on the desk to burst into flames.

Ah...misread...thought there was a question about a powered device.
Non powered devices rely on insulation which works for either cold or hot since it is transference where either changes state.

Stop making icons "better" and adding tabs nobody uses to the file manager, and concentrate on getting things organised properly.
It's been eight years since Win 10 came out, and even in the latest, most up-to-date version if Win11 we still have to remember which of two totally different settings programs we need to use to do things.
For example, "Settings" has a "Power" area - but the "power button" on a keyboard action is only available via "Control Panel". Trying to search settings for "Power" won't show control panel items which is the only clue we get that it might be the wrong app - or it might be called the "sleep button" instead. Nope? Ok, maybe the "moon button"? No? Where is control panel ... ? Ah, there it is.
You've fannied about reducing the taskbar usability, but you ignore the bits that actually matter - integration and user focus. Please, pull your finger out soon ...

True, until Microsoft comes up with "their" version and makes the other people go away.
I paid for a useful multi desktop manager, then MS got their finger out of their "nose" lol - and implemented something that did not violate any trademarks but it was enough to put the other company off. I guess if it's opensource, etc....

Playing with the interface format and other cosmetic features is annoying, but the core issue is MS needs to fix the massive number of security problems that are buried in the code. It must be nightmare code because every time something is added/modified, more bugs seem to be exposed. The code must be just patches on patches rather than a cohesive architecture.

I think it reflects that they have "too many employees".
(I remember back when thinking it was time to move on when I was being sent to ask users "how things were going" when I was in a department where there was little or no actual development.)

I think it comes down to the quality of employees. Anytime I see feedback on their support forums it starts with "hi, I am a 3rd party mvp, and I am here to help. We are very sorry you are having issues, blah blah blah."
I think it's a failed auto response. Completely useless.
Hi, Outlook won't let me "...." whatever.
Answer: have you tried to reboot? Have you updated your drivers? (as if drivers would have ANY impact on outlook).
Hell, I guess it boots and mostly works.
