Quite surprisingly, some of the top countries in Happiness index are also top consumers of anti depressants. Looks like there is some correlation between them, hope not causation.

Such a funny coincidence! Today is my son's 30th birthday, and I'll be giving him a copy later today when I see him. It's in a box upstairs and I only just looked at the jacket about 30 minutes ago.
We're both fans. I had his Applied Cryptography book way back when. I'm looking forward to reading A Hacker's Mind.

i gave up on Schneider when i found the book which made him a 'house hold name" i.e. "Applied Cryptography" useless and instead discovered the text by Alfred J. Menezes , Paul C. van Oorschot, et al. but will examine his site now that i know about it maybe he something useful to say .

I'm 100% sure Schneier is not an idiot. Just saying...

no doubt you are correct . for many years to the present the only password manager i need is his "Password Safe" . how his aforementioned text received such great and wide acclaim while the other much superior imho was completely ignored upsets me .

I didn't know Bruce was still around! I met him and chatted a bit many years (okay, decades) ago and was absolutely fascinated by his work. I'll have to look for his book!

He's not that old (born in 1963).

True, but I am! Not being in that field, I hadn't thought of him in a very long time! I met him at WESCON at the Anaheim Convention Center in about 1978 or so, and bought his book there.
Will Rogers never met me.

You must be misremembering the date. In 1978, Bruce Schneier was only 15 years old.

You're right. It's been a long time! I don't even think WESCON still exists! He was young at the time, but not that young!

Makes you realize that corporate taxes need to be on gross sales. Then this type of shenanigans won't work because you're paying the taxes on your actual sales.

I locked my chickens up last night, and I missed one of them.
I found her this morning, outside and injured, her comb pretty much chewed/ripped off. Luckily she wasn't bleeding heavily, but she's not really eating.
I'd take her to the vet, but hubby has the car until he gets back into town today. I don't usually drive so it's not normally an issue, but I may need to call the in-laws. I just had FIL over here yesterday about a power issue.
I feel terrible about this. Poor thing.

Speaking of Chicken Tenders...

Are they strictly laying chickens or do you eventually eat them? There's a pun in there about chicken tenders!

I call myself a chicken tender as a joke.
They're egg layers. We named them after The Golden Girls - Dorothy, Rose, Sophia and Blanche. How can one slaughter the Golden Girls?
Dorothy is the one who got injured.

I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

My daughter has a big heart like you do HtC.
When she was in high school and finished with fruit fly experiments, she cried when she had to dispose of them (by taking them outside into the Minnesota winter).

My FIL looked at her. He's had a lot more animals than I have. He says he doesn't think she was attacked. He said if something got her bad enough to get her comb, it would have gotten the rest of her.
He thinks she got caught in something - maybe the fence. It would explain things better, actually, but I still feel bad. I never heard her or if i did they always make so much noise over nothing anyway I didn't look. I don't know when it happened either.
