Unless you have a good chair, it's not "perfect". Got a (cheaper) "gaming chair" that's been better than any "office" chair I've had previously.

I have a desk I've been hauling around for "forever". It's about 1.5 inches lower than standard and anything else, throws me off. Most desks you can't adjust the height; and I need a desk, not a stand or "keyboard drawer". As a last resort, I would opt for a drafting table.

I agree with you about all of that. I have an additional challenge in that I need a workbench for all my electronic gear, and I don't have a lot of space where my PC is set up. I may end up with two desks as a result.

I'm using a desk from Ikea, with telescoping legs. Makes it easy to adjust the height to whatever you need. And I like mine lower too.
Not terribly large, but sufficient for the wall mounted monitor, KB + mouse, and a cup of coffee. Other gear on credenza on the side. Oh, and room for a cat that likes to lie right in front of the monitor...

I've been considering getting my chair replaced for a good while now, and I've been wondering if these so-called gaming chairs are actually any better than a "good" office chair.

I got mine at Costco (on the floor) this year. This model (in blue) has been perfect for me. It may already be discontinued.

I don't think they are still selling it. It was called a mantis. I think they've got newer AMD and intel architectures now.
It wasn't this model (this is an intel one with less ram) but it was the same price and looks the same

First up, we are all healthy in my family.
My kid, will be 4 on Christmas, knew it is his friend's birthday in play school today. He asked for a piece of paper and pencil. He scribbled something on it and said I made a birthday card for my friend and I will give it to him in school. I told his teacher and she said, his friend is not coming today. His parents chose to keep him at home due to lockdown here. Quite understandable. But it sure made my kid sad. Now I need to explain him why his friend did not come.
My kid's birthday celebration at school is planned for Thursday. I really hope there are more kids then. He is way too excited for his birthday as well and this lockdown is making it tough.

Thanks Griff, yes, I am landslide this year, just got back to Cyprus last Thursday, weathers pish though, no astrophotography achieved yet!
What a start to the birthday so far, one of the dogs started making a racket at 4am, thought it was the thunder, but then thought he was maybe needing out, even though the rain was torrential. They never went out much yesterday as it was tipping down. Anyway, gets downstairs and spots a present on the hall rug, then another one in the kids playroom, and another one in the piano area, and another one on the living room rug. They were progressively from solid from wtf! Spent the next however long cleaning up and put him in the cage, went back to bed. Heard him again at 7am, obviously protesting at being in the cage, let him out and went to open the back door to let them both out and proceeded to step in another one cold squishy one in bare feet that was camouflaged on the towel we had left down for drying their feet the day before.  cleaned that up and hit the shower!
Dropping the misses and kids off at the airport this morning, they are going to the UK for christmas, i'm staying in Cyprus, can't risk getting stuck with positive case and not being able to come back to Cyprus or get back to work in Qatar.
So, i'll have to have a or once I get back.
So cheers, a fun filled morning so far
