Oh, that's good to know. The issue for me then is losing all my stuff. Although I keep my Documents/Photos/Videos/Music mapped to my D: drive so at least I won't lose that.

Still, moving an OS is a huge amount of work. I think I'll wait for 11 to mature some.

I believe this:Free Backup Software for Windows | AOMEI Backupper Standard[^] is the one Griff usually recommends to make a complete backup of the drive.

I wouldn't need a backup of my drive so much as something that keeps all my programs and stuff installed. It's not going to happen. That means at least a day of rebuilding my environment.

I go through software a lot quicker than hardware. I buy higher end systems that will last me 10 years. I don't like replacing my machines.

Well I need to be able to support my systems even if I'm on vacation (Luckily that never happens, but anyway) so I need to use a laptop.
They seldom last ten years. Mine usually lasts five (with extended warranty).

I've had everything that could happen to a laptop happen to my laptop, including getting it stolen out of my home WHILE I WAS SLEEPING (made me want to get a dog)

That's why I don't buy them anymore, but then I'm not in your shoes.

Yeah, those were my work laptops all that ugly happened to.

I stopped using them for work because of the liability of them.

And I stopped using them at home because on principle I don't like to spend more than I want to lose on the thing, and I don't like the idea of setting even just $500 USD on a public coffee shop table. A laptop is that, but shinier.

So, it's just not for me. That and I eventually break the screen hinges from lugging it around (though in recent years laptops have gotten better in that regard)

it doesn't seem that different at first glance (except the taskbar is locked at the bottom now :/ )

But I trust it extract even more performance from the hardware...
Although I heard bug report to the contrary, it was marked as urgent bug...

only in some case with some hardware... I think, I forgot the name, but those SSD that look like a memory chip, are supposed to be slower. Got one on as my main drive though, not noticing anything (not that I am taxing the system anyway)
(by supposed to be, I mean it's a bug, of course)

Yeah, I run NVMe. If they slowed that down they can take a running jump. I'll wait for them to fix it as I tear the crap out of that drive.

I spotted a huuuuuuuUUUUUUUuuuuge problem with Windows 11.

All the windows have a new rounded corner. But my pet project app (using custom Window chrome from MahApps.Metro) still has a square border! Sigh | :sigh:

mm... I can probably get rid of MahApps.... It has a nice title bar though... (that and some minor restyling is all I use, and I mean minor)

Check you windows update panel, it tells you or there is a link to something that tells you.

it might look like your system can't upgrade, but the windows update report tool might tool you are missing PTM2.0 or something, but, on most recent system, it's just a matter of truning them on in the bios.
Windows update will still say you can't upgrade (while the checker tool say you can) in which which case, just wait a few days, Windows update will eventually catch up
