That's a bit UK ... and out of date. Are there any miners in the UK any more, let alone enough for a union?

I just checked: the NUM is still going, but it's a bit low on membership: from teh mighty 950,000 it had, it;'s down to it's last 100: Now down to just 100 active members - the decline of the once-mighty NUM - Wales Online[^]
I'm surprised it still has that many after the Thatcher era wholesale destruction of the mining industry and the communities that relied upon it.

I almost posted an attempt at a witty / sarcastic comment on UNION = NUM but decided against it, thinking there must be some obvious (to others) correlation between union and some meaning of NUM, and that no-one would get the joke involving miners anyway...

You may wish to try that part of the Netherlands for a while - may well change your whole outlook on life. No Tulips - but I think they make up for that pretty well with the people and the weather.

Must learn to dance on stilts whose height is greater than their own.
These stilts are made of vertically connected pieces of different types of wood: each type has its own elasticity, deformability limit before breakage, swelling/shrinkage in response to air temperature and moisture, pressure threshold for breaking, resistance to termites, types of fracture or cleavage, etc.
Each piece of wood must be custom designed to take into account all the parameters of every piece above it and below it. Any modification of a piece requires alteration of every other piece, below it, or above it.
Not only does a wanna-be-Royal need to dance in front of a vast crowd ready at any moment to riot, or, throw rotten fruit, or missiles, if there is the slightest misstep ... the stilt-dancer will fall: regardless of the severity of injury to the dancer, the dancer may then be sued for damages.
