I usually use TigerVNC, it works OK. Also, there's Remmina, which can connect to both VNC and RDP servers, but has some minor shortcomings in terms of supported features.

Oh, it's good. The books are well worth reading too, though the TV series stays pretty close to the story, it brings bit and people forward to strengthen the political side of things.
I have high hopes of the Amazon series ...
