Yeah, I know what you mean. It jumps to end of article and shows the marketing content.
In this case though so many sites are using this newer tech of auto-loading the next page that a lot of them infinitely scroll now. There are a lot of sites that display articles and then autoload the next one as you finish the one you are on, but they cause the page to jump in FireFox and it's really annoying.

Dell I5770 with I7 8550U cpu, 16gb ddr4 RAM, and a 2tb hard drive, running ubuntu. I'm going to order a 500gb ssd.
I had to disable the uefi bios to get linux installed.

That doesn't make any sense. No Linux install I've done in the last 7 years had an issue with UEFI.

It wasn't linux that was the problem. It insisted on booting from the hard drive (into windows 10), even after I changed the boot order.

Was the Linux on a USB and if so was it FAT32 formatted? UEFI boot will only work with FAT32.
The WIM file in the current Windows 10 Enterprise is > 4GB so requires to be on NTFS, Rufus wil create a small FAT32 boot partition and the large NTFS to install the Windows 10 installation setup.
On the Dell Latitudes (E72xx, E74xx, E78xx) I have had to setup in the past few months I have had to turn off Secure Boot (leave UEFI on and Legacy ROM's off) to do the installation, then turn off the laptop when it goes to reboot the initial time, enter BIOS/UEFI and turn on Secure Boot.
Bit of a piss around but works, get the GPT partition and BitLocker going.

Mine was simpler. I simply turned off the uefi and secure boot stuff, set the boot order, and I was off and running.

I'd consider 1 1G SSD, prices have come down a lot.
Also not sure why UEFI stopped ubuntu, couple of months ago I installed it on an i5-8400 desktop (new Asus Coffee Lake mobo) - no issues with UEFI.
Perhaps it was your installer [thumb drive I'm guessing] not formatted correct for UEFI boot?
Once installed it should be able to handle UEFI being turned back on
- I once wrongly turned it off when adding a second SSD, ubuntu still booted
(although it did stop in GRUB to tell me UEFI had changed to off, but I still could start the linux. Did a couple of things, shutdown, switched UEFI back on and it booted right up... I believe ubuntu by default installs for both.)

It supports a m.2 2280 drive. I'm looking at a 512gb SamSung EVO 970 for $150. I'm gonna take out the spinning drive altogether, and probably put another 500gb sata3 in its place. Then I'll take the spinner and out it into a USB3 case and use it as an external drive.

Last year, I was able to just order my dell with Ubuntu and it saved me $100. Mine is similarly configured with 16GB RAM, I7, 15" non-touch, m.2 ssd. It has been a great laptop.

Check the type of SSD it has now and I don't mean if it's just M.2 or mSATA.
My laptop is a 6th gen with an M.2 (128GB), just before the end of financial year and went out and got a 512GB Samsung 970 Pro (near AUD$500.00 at the time) and 2 x 16GB DDR4. Open up the laptop via a million tiny screws and popping off the plastic bottom hoping each pop didn't break anything, put it back together and nothing as a HDD.
Turns out my laptop only supported the M.2 SATA SSD while I had bought an M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. Yours being 8th Gen would I hope have support for the newer, but you never know.
I now have a pefectly good M.2 sitting on the shelf waiting for me to have a machine that I can use it in.

Hi All,
The company I work for is changing the way we book our time on projects at the office. The previous system was awful. The new system looks pretty much the same but with a new wizzy interface, which will only work properly with IE7(!?) the worst part is most of us use Chrome, Firefox, (bleedin') Edge and on if you want to install some system software you have to talk to the local IT and the remote IT support... The remote IT supports attitude is 'Why do you want that?, you can't have it!', I was under the impression that IE came as standard on Win10, it seems to be removed as it's a security risk...
