Lots of posts in the forums are suddenly nameless; a group of people decided that they do not even want to use an alias. Some teacher probably explained that their dumb questions could be traced back to them in the future, and to avoid using a name.

How do you adres someone who has no name? Should the board allow it?

I mean a good teacher should explain to them to use a search engine and never ask dumb questions.

(I guess there's AI - but if AI becomes really smart surely it too will get sick of them idiots and respond with "RTFM you dumbass".)

I don't feel that people should be allowed anonymous accounts. If you're hiding behind an alias, it's too easy to display bad behavior that really has no consequences. Note that the web admins will write you a stern email and I do recall a few people being banished many years ago. Other than that...

I've been using FireFox exclusively for about 2 months now and I really like it.
However, there is an issue with "infinite scroll" and I'm wondering if others have seen it and/or found a fix.
It's just an interesting thing.

On pages like Linked.com, plus.google.com which continue to scroll there is an issue where the browser wants to "skip" a bunch and auto-scroll further down and it forces you to slide back up the page. It's quite annoying.

Have any of you seen this? Anyone found a workaround? Just curious.

Yes, I did google but didn't find much. I did find where Scott Hanselman talks about this feature but can't tell when that post was created (Infinite Scroll WebSites via AutoPagerize - Hacky, but the beginning of something cool - Scott Hanselman[^])

how are you scrolling, wheel on mouse or old school style (vertical scroll bar on page)? If by mouse, try another mouse, and DON'T set the scroll to smooth. See if that works.

Good question.
I'm just grabbing the vertical scroll bar and moving down. At some point -- probably where the page requests the next page -- it jumps. It's a very odd thing.
I also just noticed that if I click the scroll bar's bottom arrow I get a weird redraw effect too.

When scrolling down the page gets "bigger" as more content is added to its vertical axis, making the scrollbar change its size. When you are still have it clicked while you scroll the bar jumps up (or down) to where your mouse pointer is, and that is what you describe as "jumping".

I tried the scroll wheel and I see the scrollbar's thumbwheel resize and adjust itself and the page every so slightly blinks but it stays in the proper place (no jumping). When that happens and I'm dragging the thumbwheel (grabbed it with mouse) is when I normally see the jump - which places me at another place in the page and is annoying.

So, you are right, the browser does work properly with the mouse scroll wheel.
The issue there is that at home I have a track-ball only and scroll via grabbing the scrollbar's thumbwheel.

Yeah I've seen that on pages that dynamically load lower parts of a page as you scroll down, always ended up beyond the dynamically loaded section(s) and had to scroll back up to see what it was.

figured it was some weenie applying phone browser layout/load rules to normal web pages. (i.e. also meant in the end little useful content anyway, jus a pic and a large font 1-2 line marketing blurb per page.)

Yeah, I know what you mean. It jumps to end of article and shows the marketing content.

In this case though so many sites are using this newer tech of auto-loading the next page that a lot of them infinitely scroll now. There are a lot of sites that display articles and then autoload the next one as you finish the one you are on, but they cause the page to jump in FireFox and it's really annoying.
