Monday 24 September 2018 will mark both my first day in a new company with better pay and benefits and my first wedding anniversary.
It's strange how some dates repeat themselves, espceially the number 24: I got engaged to my wife exactly on 24 October 2006.
I just hope it will bring good fortune.

Thanks! Marriage goes well on its own (12 years of relationships have a significant inertia). The new job has "imposter syndrome" kicking in for the first time in 6 years... luckily the team and management seem to already trust me a lot.

At first we were underage;
Then we were not economically independent;
Then we weren't living in our own home (we lived in my parents house);
Finally we managed to live with my wage but we didn't have money for the wedding.
So no rush, also we're not religious, the wedding served only to grant some more legal rights to us

I have to think marriage nowadays has more to do with taxes than religion.

Taxes, assistance, legal rights abroad... it's like an insurance.
Of course it is meaningful, but not mandatory. Bit since we don't plan on splitting up it is deifintely the best move.
Also, keeping a seat on the train for "my girlfriend" is different from keeping it for "my wife"
