Try navigating to chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md and changing the setting to "Normal". Restart Chrome, and you should get the older UI.
No doubt they'll remove this flag in a couple of versions.

Let the thought police have some fun too. It's good when they once in a while have the feeling that they are genuinely helping their customers and see some immediate results. I am noticing a lot of issues with Chrome lately. Mostly browser freezing.
Could it be Windows actively crashing Chrome?!

Hmmm, just started using Chrome again for CodeProject as Edge did not work properly anymore. Strange thing is that at work Edge still works like it should. I found out that most problems I have at home are gone when I start Edge as administrator ...

My chrome instances were not running YouTube videos over the weekend which seems to have been fixed.

I noticed Chrome went through an update, since a few days it looks different. (for instance, the tabs on top are noticeably different)

Twice in the last couple months Chrome started getting very sluggish for me. Both times clearing the history / cache fixed it right up.

Bonus points if you now can tell me what CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductors) got to do with all that. 
By the way: In CMOS chips lurks something called a parasitic Thyristor[^] that can cause a lot of trouble, especially when the polarity of the supply voltage is reversed and there is no diode to protect the chip.
