The talk of oscilloscopes and logic analysers below has activated my geeky electronics gene, so I'll share with you my thoughts on some RGBW ribbon that arrived yesterday and I dutifully wired up. This stuff:

We're modernising our bathroom and have opted for profile lighting recessed into a multi-layer ceiling. Why does someone need multicolour lighting in their bathroom - good question, but if going down the profile and led tape route why not?
Anyway, it's brilliant. The white light you get from mixing R G and B together isn't that good for illumination apparently, so the 4th white LED is included to address that and what it means is that the ribbon can produce various shades and tints of white (so called, warm, cool, natural etc.) and it really seems to be able to produce pretty much any colour you want.
This tape is expensive. I've bought similar products direct from China in the past but I believe this is a case of you get what you pay for. Consistent colour and brightness (something which becomes noticeable as you dim the things), and the 24v rather than 12v helps to keep the light uniform over longer lengths. Oh, and it's bright. We have about 8metres of pure warm white 14w/M ribbon in another room, and turning it up is like being in a TV studio. Not that I've ever been in one.
I'm sold, but my advice if you are considering something similar is skip the cheap stuff you find on Amazon and ebay and go for quality.

maybe quality is the way to go, but those things (mostly cheap) are turning up everywhere
my new motherboard has led strips (turned off), even ram chips have it for an extra dollar (why?). I built my latest rig to be as tiny and unobtrusive as possible. I've seen advertised bicycle spokes with them that such that if you ride fast enough (not that fast) looked like they could render images visible from the side.

An interesting read on how white light is created with LED's. It sounds like your white light is the blue-yellow combination. However, that link is from 2003. Still, reading the wikipedia link, it seems that's still how it's done.

I still don't know why someone thinks that I might be interested in clicking on ads showing a Millenial Mutant (TM) and a potted plant. Hard to say which one of the two looks more intelligent. Anyway, since last week I get this ad on CP on every page at every refresh. On some pages the mutant and his plant even look at me twice.
For the first time I now got a different ad for a 6 channel 8 GHz oscilloscope. Now we are talking. I could even afford it if I really wanted to, even if the price tag is 25 times that of the more modest oscilloscope I have. Except hopeless nostalgia there are some more rational reasons why I play with such old processors. Anyway, that's really a sexy device.
If I really may wish for a new toy, how about a logic analyzer[^]? I will not need any high frequencies, but enough channels and useful functions would be nice. Any tips where to look?

Keysight seem to have come from nowhere, I'm guessing the brand was owned by someone who let it fall and then brought it back or sold it on. I have never used more than three channels at the same time, but six I could get behind (monitoring clock signals & inputs simultaneously...). I find if I need an instrument got home use I have found Uni-T to be quite good (Farnells Tenma brand is Uni-T with a badge change!) There stuff is not too expensive and seems to quite accurate have a look at Bangood.com

Measuring the data bus may require some more channels. Data lines, address lines, address extensions, /MRD and /MWR. Or when you have several busmasters at work, like when you are debugging DMA.

If I needed a scope and it wasn't silly money it would a yes from me (bought a Uni-T model a couple of years ago, two channel does the job!) Whats your view on Pico-scopes, never really worked for me...
