Why did you tell me that? I have been flying 200 - 300 hours with my old T-Rex 550E and had no crashes at all. Now that I know that these models can crash...

It did happen to me - and almost everyone else who tried it for the first time. After about 30 seconds I had successfully flipped it on the back and 'landed' it on the rotor.
If you ever want to try, come right over and we will spend some hours on the simulator before we ever try anything out on the nfield.

Just curious: do you enjoy the skill required to fly those?
Just asking coz these days drones (the hobbyist multi-prop ones, not those that launch RPG's) they are putting out today have got all sorts of idiot proofing auto stabilisation built in.
(Still not 100% idiot proof though: they don't self-avoid power lines, moderate to fast moving terrestrial vehicles and dogs that want to play frisbie.)

Yes, just as I prefer manual transmission in a car. This way the learning never ends and there are always new goals to achieve. Just pressing a button and let a microcontroller have all the fun is boring.

No, they don't and that's why I think that giving unskilled people the illusion of control over a fairly dangerous object. The bigger helicopters can easily kill someone. It already has happened.

That's a beautiful machine! 500 is a great size. I have a 450 that I learned on.
I've been flying planes since the 80's, then got into helicopters about 8 years ago - because someone told me it was one of the top 3 hardest of all hobbies.
The thrill of getting it in the air in my driveway after months of work was unreal.
Now we are flying quads and hexicopters. I have an HD camera on my quad that takes some stunning photos. And a FPV camera on the hex that sends realtime video back to my VR goggles.
The best part about helis and drones is that you can fly anywhere. I can just walk into my backyard and fly for 15 minutes, then go on to something else. No need to pack up and drive to a field or club and go through all the trouble to fly a plane.
So what are you using for radios? Futaba? Graupner?

450s are great for learning. The best compromise between price, size and power. I have three T-Rex 450 (plus a cheap clone that I adopted from someone who gave up), my old Blade 450 3D and a 10 year old veteran T-Rex 550E that I also saved from being scrapped.

I have a very cheap camera under the T-rex 550 and made two flying videos on Youtube with it. VR would be fun, but then I would also like to have telemetry and a HUD.

Just look for 'T-Rex vs unsuspecting cows' on Youtube. . And I would not have much room for planes in my little appartment.

First I used a Spektrum DX6, which came with the Blade 450. Then I had some trouble with the sticks. I had to open up and clean the potentiometers several times or risk losing control in flight. Since then I use a Spektrum DX8 which is of much better quality.

phht, apparently the director of a huge bank in Yemen passed away without leaving a will and apparently I'm the most eligible relative to receive his inheritance worth millions.
The funds are intestate with some government department and some lawyers so all they needed was a few thousand US dollars to process the paperwork - was way worth it for the millions I'll get.
Any day now ...

It's very easy: They want to do a lot of transactions and need a lot of computer power to get all this processed. If you dedicate a computer to do some processing for them, you are awarded bitcoins for the work you did for them.

My version of it?
It's the act of wasting power on computations that are for the most part completely useless, and in the unlikely event you do get a bitcoin out of it, you still won't be able to trade it in for anything of tangible value, no matter what its current monetary value is reported to be.
