If sarcasm is the language of the intelligent and sarcasm is not translated over text well. One could surmise too much time online using text as the only means of idea exchange leaves one less intelligent. Now as any good engineer knows, we need evidence to support this postulation. As such, I submit to you Facebook and Twitter. And to make matters more interesting, we as a species have never had before the luxuries we take for granted today. We no longer need to think for ourselves.

It seems to me the world is headed towards the path of the insect where we lack the ability to reason. Whereas bugs would fly into a bug zapper because it's bright and shiny... ZAP they're dead. We fly into a world of disillusion and lack of focus by too many can I has cheeseburger kitten pictures. People considered "awake" see through this. Everyone else tends to think the right name brand clothes, thanks to the same flashy imagery on television (it's an advanced bug zapper), or correct buzzword on the resume is all that matters (buzzwords sound smart so we don't have to). Isn't is nice to have not have to think? Glory be to name brands and buzzwords to do the thinking for us.

So if we're not thinking and not communicating. What pray tell do you think the future will be like when the machines eventually take over and make us their pets? Would it be a worthwhile cause to learn to enjoy milk for when the inevitable comes and a machine serves it to me on a saucer to lap up off the floor? Should I perhaps learn to fetch as a necessary skill to go on my pet resume? Not sure if a machine would much care to have a pet they couldn't play fetch with.

Am I suggesting too much Facebook and its ilk will turn us into pets. In a word: yes.

Your thoughts...
Jeremy Falcon
