Software became one of the major defining problems of the system. There were no specs..we made it up. The software engineers were free to write almost anything they liked (at least at first). There were no specs, we made it up, and it's always amazing to me, why was I allowed to program something that hadn't even been specified that would be critical in assuring the success of the whole Apollo program? I couldn't believe it, but that's the way it was -- we made it up as we went along.

So about 100 horse per liter? (Dont know CUs!  )
Thats a torquey motor, I would have thought more power less torque given the way the cams sound.

Torque is more the result of stroke length than CID. HP is based more on CID.
It's a 7 liter motor (427 CID), 1.3HP per cubic inch, or 80hp per liter.

CID?
Cams have a huge effect on torque and power John. A big overlap long duration cam will produce an engine that cant pull away below 3k, I know, I had 300's in one years back. (Mind you it used to rev its nuts off, 9000 rpm was often reached)
I read an interesting article (and this apples to twin cam engines) about how you can change the angles between the inlet and outlet. If its tighter, you get more peak power in a narrower range, if its wider, a bigger power spread but less peak power. Never knew that at the time.
80 a liter sounds about right for naturally aspirated engine, I would have thought nearer 100 for a blown one though.
