Not sure if you mean Chemotherapy or the Radiotherapy when you say medicine, but both suck arse in so far as what they do to the patient while trying to cure them. Sorry to you and whomever it is that is close to you that is suffering through this.

Chemo in this case, it has destroyed so many things in him that he doesn't function any more.
My wife is completely destroyed knowing it's just a matter of time before her father is gone.

Unfortunately the chemo works by poisoning all the cells of the body in the hope that the cancer cells die first and you can then be pulled back from the brink before all the cells die. A horrible procedure but it has worked many, many times. Let's hope he is lucky.

Yes, they say that 70% die from the chemo, but 100% die from the cancer if left untreated, so it's still an easy enough choice. (Numbers may change depending on type of cancer)

Condolences. Had radiation that was not too bad. Father had chemo that almost killed him. (But gave him a few more months). Co-worker's wife is 90 pounds (US) after (during) both.

While I realize it sucks... having no medicine at all is even worse. My mother was diagnosed with a malignant inoperable brain tumor back in the fall of 1998. No chemo available and only limited experimental radiation. She was dead after 4 miserable months.
On the flip side my lovely wife is 4 years removed from breast cancer. The chemo / radiation was painful for her and difficult for me to watch but she's cancer free and going strong.

One of the worst diseases out there.
And unfortunately, one of the most common.
My grandma got diagnosed a few weeks ago as well, but luckily it looks like they will be able to cut it out and she'll be cured. Still sucks though.
My other grandma died from cancer.

Medicine is definitely better than it used to be few yaers ago. However it is far from being perfect.

I think the phrase is "Feck cancer and all it's fecking 'pals'! Cancer can feck right off and when it gets there it needs to feck off some more. When it's finished fecking off it can feck itself as well!"

If you recall, we went through this with Mrs Wife's father. All you can do is be there. You have to be your wife's rock and make sure everything that can be done for him, and the rest of the family, is done. Let your emotions go to the side and deal with them. And when it gets you down come here and have a real good SCREAM! We'll all listen and help where we can. Good luck and God bless.

We arrived at the hospital the last day he could communicate with us, and we were there every day until the end knowing and seeing that he could still hear and understand us.
