Open it up, remove the battery, leave it for 30 seconds, replace the battery, and try again. If that fails, it really is time for the recycling bin.

After using my previous tablet for almost 4 years, the battery started to go bad. It would only hold a charge for about 4 hours and drain while it was turned off.
I finally switched to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (the 8 inch version) and am very satisfied.
By the way, not sure your situation, but my old tablet didn't turn on after (I thought) it was charging all day. The usb had separated from the adapter and it wasn't charging, but actually draining.

Have you pulled off the back and ensured the battery is fully connected? I have had to do this to the Wife's Nexus 7 on several occasions over the past few years even though she never drops it, always looks after and seems to have problems with everything she owns.
Me and both kids have had no problems with our Nexus 7's.

After years and several surveys where to the question "what would you as Santa for next year?" the answer has been "WALLS dogdammit!", and only 3 years o requests to my boss maybe, MAYBE I will move my desk in a small office with only two other people (one of those is the other half of my team AND my most direct boss). Fingers crossed and hooray!
The downside is a smaller desk, the bright side is I will no longer be surrounded on 7 sides by people who work mainly by phone. And dumb coworkers who flaunt the rule "meetings shall be conducted in the appropriate room" by having long managerial or technical discussions inside the open space.

I just have to wait until the two coworkers in that office free the desk of their things. Other plus side: that is actually the electronics lab. I enjoy working in labs and considering that one of my most common tasks is writing the interfaces with the hardware it's highly appropriated.

Ah, I see you have the machine that goes ping. This is my favorite. You see we lease it back from the company we sold it to and that way it comes under the monthly current budget and not the capital account.
