Python is ok, I'm beginning to realize (ok, I'm a slow learner) it's not just the language, it's also the programmer. I still dislike script languages, but the programmer can do a lot to make it worse!
Case in point, I decided to implement a few models and REST API's with Django/Python, borrowing the models from an existing project. Besides the fact that Django's migrate is lame (you can't add a non-nullable field to a table with no data without going through hoops), I quickly realized how badly written the existing model code was.

I mostly use Python for quick scripts in my project (macro replacement and stuff), as well as various pre- and post-commit hooks for Git (all using PyGit2/LibGit2 to get the Git metadata). Some of them are kinda hacky, but they work rather well.
I plan on writing a basic API documentation system with it as well. That may take a while, though.

Hi All,
Weekending at Parents (basically catching up on tv I can't get in Bristol (Walking Dead, Westworld etc.), the power went out around 04:30 didn't know anything about it until Mum brought a cup of tea around 11 am. So thinking of all things I wanted/needed to do today went out the window, so I ended up playing Acoustic Bass for a while while getting hungry (electric kitchen). Couldn't have a shave as I have an electric shaver. I think I have become over reliant on eleastic trickery I think this is a lesson. For the coming apoclypse (be Zombie, Plague, Corbin/Trump...) I feel the need for an isolated farmhouse with it own independant power supply/server farm, flat, clear land (tall tower for sniping). Fully equipped workshop...  Then around 14:40 the power comes back, and its back to normal, Rick Grimes fanatsy put back in box...  (I am Zombie fodder...)

That is hard, if you keep clear of certain parts trying to bite you is a give away (not that reliable though), you can after a while tell the difference moan (Zombie moan 'brainzzzz', Loacal moan 'aaaawwwwwright, meee loverrrrrrr'....

I'd agree with his pov in some respects - but its like anything in technology, it starts off with a good premise and somewhere someone perverts the intended usage and says 'hey, I can use that technology to become more lazy'
I'm using iOT for resource monitoring, married up with weather data to promote ecologically sound holidays on a particular property which markets itself as eco/green - helping customers make good eco choices - some people would call that a perversion, but, the customers actually want to know how much resources they are using. As an added benefit, we can say 'its going to rain this afternoon, here are some indoor type things you can see in the district'

It fills my head with cotton wool.
This morning I started on a job for a friend: bolting together some of his videos: 25 files, all MP4, all same resolution and audio / video codecs. Can I bolt 'em together to make 5 MP4 files, each around 2 hours? Should be about 1GB per file, since the total input is about 5GB. No problem, done it loads of times.
Off we go with Corel Videostudio X9 ... four hours for the first file, Computer running like a stunned slug on mogadons while it does it's thing. And the output size? 13.2GB for a 1.06GB total input...
Holy carp.

15 seconds per file, total size of all five files 5.33GB. Sorted.
I hate having a cold...
