I've got maxthon open, so:
- For starters, it's got everything that all the other browsers have, so you won't miss any bells and whistles.
- It's faster than the others (except Opera when using the Opera servers)
- It integrates standards faster than the others
- You get to choose which rendering engine to use, so if a page won't display, you can just change the rendering engine (the mobile version gives you even more choices, like IOS/Android/desktop modes).
- Their sync features are pretty much how they should be. I can start reading something on my tablet, continue reading it on my phone, if holding the tablet becomes inconvenient, and finish it off at home on a desktop/laptop.
- AdBlock+ is built in.
- Not sure whether to class this is a plus or a minus, but it stores cookies in a database, which means you need to use a database editor to get at them (free ones are available[^]). That looks kind of minus-ish, but that also means that you can run queries, rather than have to grind your way through them.
- They are genuine innovators. They are the guys who made the MyIE shell, all those years ago, which gave IE4 most of the functionality offered by "modern, innovative" browser makers.
The latest version (which I haven't installed yet; I always adopt "late" -- i.e. at the right time) is supposed to add yet more innovation, like proper password management/generation and Shadow email.

Firefox is the officially supported browser within my company. I have some issues with FF, mainly how long it occasionally takes it to start up, as well as how long it takes to break/move a tab out in a new window.

Ok, so I dumped cable TV (TWC) and have been trying a few alternatives so I'm not hostage to those greedy barstools. (I've found most of the live news I like on YouTube).
At the moment it's Amazon Prime. Apart from one or 2 decent films, it's not worth the money. Will move on to Hulu next.
The exceptions:
TV series called FleaBag. Elephanting brilliant. Only 6 episodes - 3 hours total.
Film called Blackout. Got to see that one.
They have some Amazon only content (Man in the High Castle, for instance) but that wouldn't be enough to keep me interested and most of the films are b-movies or very old.

Cut the cable a couple of years ago, now.
Amazon Prime: sucks - so much of what you want is pay-extra.
NetFlix: Good if your primary interest is movies
HuluPlus: Good if your primary interest is TV
HuluPlus will have the TV episodes the next day. NetFlix recently got control of a show I watch (actually, the entire lineup from a network). You'll not see the current season's episodes until well after the entire season is over.
HuluPlus: commercials on TV shows (unless you pay extra), but their movies have all been commercial free.
My current interface is via Roku - a real ass of a company - but with the largest variety of stations to connect.
My cable bill TV bill is now ca. US$8/month, which pays for HuluPlus.
Depending upon your connection method, you'll have more media than you can ever know what to do with. Mrs. Wife, who was skeptical at first, not only has adapated, but sees the merits in having almost everything you watch already recorded for you.

This bit isn't really true anymore. The amount of Netflix-produced TV series is getting insane at this point. Everyone knows about the big ones ("House of Cards", "Orange is the New Black", Marvel stuff), but there are literally dozens of other shows being released.
As far as a response to the original post, I currently just have an HD antenna hooked up to my XBone and a Netflix account. When combined with various web clips and going to the pub for any live sporting events I would like to watch, I have everything that I require from an entertainment standpoint.

Man in the High Castle is an odd one bits are from the book which did a lot of world building I think Philip K D*ck might have been planning a series of books but Acid got in the way  . I have started to watch it due to flat mate having a Prime subscription for quick books, let mine lapse when they upped the price. He also has Netflicks which he forgot about (he got for his ex, only remembered when a bill came in which he checked) I found you can access all the shows on Netflicks even if they aren't advertised in your country by entering the name Netflicks gives them, there are better instructions on the Tested web site have a search around for it: www.tested.com
I also think the 'cutting cord' thing is primarily a US thing as here in the UK we get a decent(ish) selection via digital broadcast. I wonder how the rest of Europe is?

You have to be careful watching those. We have been caught out a couple of times watching +1 late at night. Come midnight it just switches off without warning, regardless of whether the program has finished.

I thought the book was awful bit loved the series.
I do agree that UK TV provider choice/quality is far better; either SKY, SKY FreeSat, FreeSat or FreeView which are all bloody good and all those channels for free!!!

10 years ago newspapers were still important, now they are only an environmental disaster.
My kids don't know what a cassette tape is.
I'm betting my grand kids (not yet, little while to go) won't have any clue what cable/broadcast TV is [was]. (Probably movie theaters too - for sure the g-g-kids.)

Happened to me a few years ago. Frightening, in a way as you sort of change your class in society.
Single->Married->Parent are all the same 'group' pretty much. There are differences, but then suddenly your group changes to "Grandparent" - and it's altogether different.
However - after the first one, the damage is done - and thus, you may as well collect as many grandchildren as you can.*
* Warning!!! - quality control can be a problem. All the ones I've gotten so far seemed to leak. This is best addressed by the first-line custodians.

I like other peoples babies too, because when they leak, stink or make too much noise you can simply give them back.
But another scary thought: these days see a lot of grandparents becoming 24/5..24/7 baby sitters (if not housing & housekeeping providers as well), already investigating retirement options a loooong way away.
