I was getting my hairs cut by this lady who has done this cutting for me for years. We were talking about tech and it's trappings. I said ya know, The horse must have been a real pita it it's last days, and while the car was far superior, certainly comes with a new set of problems not the least of which is who gets shotgun and will it do a burnout.

Why not upgrade to the model I have and this becomes an automatic convenience?

It's an LG Flip Phone (US$20). Has power-off button, too - no need to upgrade.

that's still true, even with the current phone-in-face melding. I've seen what passes for pictures. A "Disc File Camera[^]" was not a Hassleblad. And it showed. It wasn't even an "instamatic". It would pass for a decent cellphone.

I'd consider driving the car into a restaurant bad manners. I don't want to smell their exhaust. If the person they were with weren't similarly brain-dead, I'd imagine they're sitting at a table to be with them and not watch them grinning at their phone.

A house can be a home or a prison.

I'd be rather annoyed if people had a face full of food wherever I went.

Those miserable devices are ringing and glowing and generally destroying real human interaction, particularly common sense and courtesy - in virtually every venue.

As it turns out, unlike the examples you chose, the use of these devices recognizes no boundaries or limitations in its (mis)usage. Like smoking: once upon a time someone would ask "do you mind if I smoke?" - this changed to where they'd light up the damn things anywhere and everywhere. With a little luck, we'll continue down the path and outlaw them devices in public places.

People tell me I'm a negative person. My standard reply is that looking for the negative things is the only way you can make said things better. Otherwise it's called denial.
