Work! When you finished working, work some more on something else! Then work on other things and go to bed thinking about work!
True happiness is always working on something until you become a work-machine that knows only how to keep occupied working. Reading, playing games, listening/composing music... it's all waste of time! Order your dinner and ggroceries online so that you can do some pretty work instead of going out! Don't do shopping or visit fairs unless you need something to work on!

Work is what you get paid for, to keep shoes on the table and ensure that the children always have food to put on their feet!
"Free" time can be spent on doing things you love doing.
If you love playing games more than writing original code solutions that might make other people's lives easier, fair enough.
Me, I've been living out of hotels since the middle of January, with a gamepad in my luggage that I've only plugged into my laptop twice, in all that time (for few minutes, each time). I just don't get much personal satisfaction out of games, any more.
So much to do (that I'm really good at doing), so little time. Following a path that some game dev team has designed for me to follow just doesn't do it for me, any more.

If you played Planescape: Torment, you must be a fan of classic D&D game (just like me). If you are not, then try Baldurs Gate (I & II) and Icewind Dale (I & II), its awesome :3

Neverwinter Nights (especially 2) is one of my favorite games ever
I didn't care much for Mask Of The Betrayer because you had to eat souls or something like that. Very annoying...

I find heavily modded Skyrim and add to that Anaal Nathrakh for atmosphere, pretty much brilliant.
And Skyrim is the kind of game, I will probably use more than 40 hours to play.

I've been playing vanilla Skyrim mostly for the story, but mods make everything a few times better. I predict spending a lot of time on it.
Considering Anaal Nathrakh, I've been going through their discography, but just can't get past Eschaton. I mean, those first three albums are so intense and brilliant, that I'm not quite ready to go forward. Even though I started with Vanitas, but that was about a year ago.

We developers who bend a UL backwards to show (essentially) tabular data instead of using a TABLE element.
I know. #wedeveloperproblems #grumpyoldman. Get over it.
But it bothers me because it's misguided principles over practicality.

That's because we used TABLE to layout pages, so now we have to hate it in any form - even as table...

That's everywhere in programming: "This is the RIGHT way to do it!"
But the real right way is the way that:
a. Gives the customer what he needs.
b. Does not cost an arm and a leg of developer time to produce and maintain.
Having principles is fine, but too many principles in programming are based on "What I know how to do", "What I studied", and "What I think is cool".
Too many people are too sure of their ability to discern right and wrong where no right or wrong exists, and insist that things be done the way that they have decided to perceive as right.
It's not for no reason that KISS was laid down as one of the first tenets of programming.
For God's sake, don't get me started on that emasculated PostScript called XML!
