I read this and shed a tear for Chris Squire of Yes. There something wrong with people living on a roundabout I for one have a very odd relationship with them. If it's painted I tend to go around it, if not I go over it (well the muppet driving an Astra behind me had something to do wwith it!).

Not necessarily on roundabouts but there are ad hoc 'settlements' all over the place. With thousands of people officially homeless, it's kinda inevitable. When I was living in Glastonbury a few years back there were four of which I was aware and rumours of more. I know of at least one on the East Devon coast and there's a site near the bypass here that would be perfect but apparently hasn't been discovered yet. If there's a wi-fi signal I might commandeer it myself - much healthier for the dog that my tiny, squalid first floor garret!

They don't really have roundabouts in Nashville or anywhere else in USA! USA!! USA!!! They prefer junctions. And if they need temporary accommodation they prefer boxcars to tents. So this could never be a C&W!

Walking through Cambridge today I noticed that there are more people wrapped in blankets/sleeping bags begging than I have seen for a few years.
Around 10 years ago the police in Cambridge cracked down on people begging and pretty much drove them all out of town. Hardly ever seeing a policeman/policewoman on patrol I am guessing is the reason for seeing more people begging.
One thing that strikes me is that all the people I see begging appear to have mental health issues and it is quite sad to see them out in the open with nothing but their sleeping bags as possessions talking to themselves - I do however occasionally see someone talking to them and I passed one man who had a pasty and cup of coffee, that I take someone had bought for him, so it is good that they are not completely invisible.
