I was just thinking that it might be a case where 11720681 equals 23741???
As for shows with amnesia, I would much rather go in the opposite direction and watch the extremely wonderful Poppy Montgomery[^]

Why are you so rigorously defending Win 10?
He's entitled to his opinion, and there's more than a few folks here that think Win 10 is a steaming pile of defecation.

There's not going to be a fight. I don't really give 2 sh*ts, and I won't respond any more on this.

I am neither defending nor attacking it. I installed it without a problem of any kind in September and I've had not a single problem since. That's a simple fact.
What I won't put up with is this absurd, hyperbolic, unfounded nonsense about it being a 'con', especially in the form of a repost when the first didn't go as well as the poster hoped!
I am not a number. I am a ... no, wait!

Not having turned on the computer since you installed Win 10 doesn't count.

Agreed this is getting silly. The only personal machine I have that's not running 10 yet, is a laptop old enough it came with Vista. It's not upgraded mostly because it's not free; assuming it's still alive a year from now (or is needed sooner as an emergencyish loaner for a family member) I'll figure out where my folder with the W7 keys is to give it an upgrade; until then it can just sit since I don't use it for anything.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

You are annoying.
There is no "con job" in regards with Windows 10.
You are free to use it or not.
You don't like it, use something else.
I like it and use it, so, in that particular case, our two views cancel each other's.
I'd rather be phishing!

I gave up caring about my operating system. I spend most of my day in Visual Studio and a web browser. As long as those work, the supporting platform is not much of an issue.

You've been here eight months, and your only contribution to the site is two Lounge threads in two days proclaiming that W10 is a "con job".

My next stop, after Win7, is Linux.
I'll not make a rant - although it's oh-so-tempting - but put it down to one of the greatest affronts: you cannot turn off updates, and if your a home user, you cannot even stop them. When MicroScurge will buy me the computer then they can behave like they own it. Until then, I know a nice place I'd shove a splintery broomstick.
Which I would then proceed to twist: slowly to the right, then slowly to the left, then back to the right . . .

Many years ago (at home) I did 12-18 month "hiatus" from Windows XP using Ubuntu Linux. This was right before Windows 7 was released. A couple things were tricky to set-up (Brother printer / scanner, Dell DJ music player, etc...) but once it was working it was pretty solid. I could do nearly everything I needed to but it certainly had its quirks. Sometimes simple things with Windows were quite difficult with Linux. Lack of a decent CAD program hurt a bit...
Eventually the Linux quirks drove me to an iMac which still runs wonderfully today.
I keep a Linux Mint PC around for fun. I don't do much with it so I'm not sure how many of the quirks remain.

Did the same thing and came to the same conclusion back then, but I just tried Linux Mint out about 2 months ago, and it was blindingly easy to install (on a laptop - notorious for having finicky hardware). So now it's my permanent laptop OS. If Steam had just a few more AAA titles ported to Linux, I could use it as my OS on my desktop.
I'll be seriously considering it once Jetbrains goes live with their cross-platform C# IDE.

Remember to consider the source.
Vaughn-Nichols is a LONG TIME Linux shill. Pretty sure you can find articles by him every year for the last 10-15 years predicting the "Year of Linux".
Just so you know where I stand: I use W7 at work (it works very well), no plans to go to W10 due to older proprietary apps that will not upgrade. I use all Apple stuff at home. I do have a W7 install and a Linux Mint install at home just for "fun".
