I just noticed that I've got 9 optional windows updates that were pushed out Tuesday of last week (a week after patch Tuesday) doing things like updating the C runtime, fixing bugs in stand alone applications, and a number of what appear to be non-core OS bugfixes.

Nothing earthshaking; but I'm not used to seeing much beyond AV definition updates and 3rd party drivers show up for out of cycle patches in non-emergency situations.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
