I have some WPF apps which won't work - the issue seems to be an older version of the Xceed grid
also the apps using the MS ribbon control have very goofy chrome

Which version? I've got WPF apps still using v5, and they don't appear to have any problems.
If you haven't still got a subscription, would the community edition[^] work?

Thanks Ravi, but I already looked at that version. It is US centric, does not support most of the account types that I use, and could not read my existing Money file.

Almost...As one of many who was there for the preview test I got an update for the final version, only with a bit of twist...I can not activate my version unless paying ($200) for a brand new license...

I am glad you will find your way back to Windows 8.1 (or 7 as they say), which is much better OS as compared to this Windows 10.

My Windows 10 is a VM - I do not install betas on my working computer directly...

And how exactly is Windows 8.1 better than Windows 10?
Granted, Windows 10 has severe privacy issues, but most of them can be overcome just by not linking your Microsoft account with it. Apart from that, I am yet to find any other major concerns. Customize the settings during the installation and you should be good.
Honestly, if you are thinking Windows 8.1 is "much" better than 10, you must have not used atleast one of them. Windows 7 on the other hand...

Reinstall an older Windows 7 or 8 on your machine and than can you update to 10.
My preview Windows 10 got the final version without any problem via dvd install.
What went precisl wrong?

All good - only it refuses to get activated, so I can not change 90% of the settings...
(I installed it from the internet not DVD, maybe there is the problem)

By installer, are making reference to the .msi or the Administrator?
The difficult may take time, the impossible a little longer.
