You can always downvote the posting, then explain why.
Maybe a downvote or two will be enough to convince people not to downvote without good reason.
Or maybe it'll start flame wars. Who knows?

I think for 99.99% of the cases it makes no sense to include an .exe in an article explaining/discussing some code.
Try Hovercraft for Android, voted "a game" by players.

I usually don't add exe files to the downloads, for the reasons you have mentioned and most of my stuff is something where the source code is much more important than an executable.

I think your reasoning is excellent, Ed. You just ran into a web surfer who's too lazy to compile the project himself, or too inept, or just looking for freeware with no intention of learning anything or doing any work. Move along, nothing to see here, lad. And nothing to be concerned about on your end. Carry on!

That's a shame. And so young (says Ed, who will soon turn 59).

He didn't look too good at the reunion concert. Funny, I always thought that Ginger would be the first to go.

The great ones are dropping like flies, Ravi. Just between us two, I don't think that situation is going to get better anytime soon...

I know...
For some reason I just recalled when a whole bunch of artists whose names started with J passed away, at roughly the same time in the 70s: Janis, Morrison, Hendrix and Jim Croce. I remember feeling really sad at how my idols were being snatched away from me and hoping James Taylor wouldn't be on the list. Thankfully he wasn't. Weird what sticks in the mind!

So glad I got to see him when he was on tour with the Ronnie Scotts band in Bristol (UK), a true one off.

I suspect I just lost an approximate 30 hours worth of work. I decided to play around with the CodeProject API, and of course did that on my dev VM (which runs on my iMac - no comments on that. Please.) - I was updating it (the VM that is, not the iMac) to use Ubuntu 14.xx, and all of the sudden the whole HOST OS hung up, crashed to leave the VM in unusuable state. Yes, uploading everything to an SCM was on the todo list
Update: I'm now setting up a second VM, praying to be able to mount the old virtual hdd and rescue the data.

You can (of course) restore from your last hourly backup, I assume?
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Eeeermmm... No
I did not use the mac for any important stuff before I started using it as dev VM host, so there is no backup at all.

Good luck, I'd be interested to see what you're up to. I haven't fussed with the API yet myself.

Hey Mark,
I uploaded the code here[^] (Yes, just managed to rescue it ).
Anyhow, you will need Qt 5.2.1[^], if you want to compile it.

Yay!
And thanks for link. Also, one of my "on the shelf" projects for a client is getting Qt to work on a BeagleBone, it seems like a daunting task, so I'll be working with Qt some as well soon.

Well, there's your problem. You were updating the wrong thing. Code Project is a Microsoft site. We hate Apple.

buuuttt.
Try googling to see if there is a fix. You might get lucky if the files are still there, maybe try to bring it up in a different VM like Virtualbox. good luck
