My last day was at the start of August. Hows the hunt going? that in itself is a whole email thread (your CV needs to be this way, no that way, no experience first, no education, no career objective!) these people need to get a hobby! my favorite (applying for an embedded role) "you do not have ASP.NET", "you lack coding experience in modern languages such as TCL, Java", good grief.

This is training (or annealing): As a man you are always in the wrong. If you think you are in the right, you are in the wrong. If you did something right it was both a fluke and transient. If she's not mad at you, you're not in the right, she just hasn't worked out what you did wrong.
Do not ask what you did wrong. This is clearly another case of you being in the wrong because you KNOW what you did wrong and are just being irritating.
Beware of open questions, but closed questions are the worst: "Do these pants make my butt look big?" has no correct answer.

I think a tactical retreat is the best option, while humming - feigning a "geezer moment". This only really works after you have achieved geezerhood (0ne of the few advantages of getting old)!
