You lot area sickly, deformed bunch battling constant pain so I am sure some good advice will be forthcoming.
I am having hip pain still since my car crash, despite steroid injections and a few months of physio. Things are improving, and some activities are no longer a problem at all.
I changed my car last week and the pain I used to get after driving has more or less gone, I no longer get much pain whilst walking anymore either.
However, after sitting in a normal office chair for even half an hour I get quite a lot of pain when I get up again. The longer I sit the greater the pain and the longer it lasts. The pain is not there whilst sitting, but after I get up again.
My torturer sadist physio has suggested talking to our occupational therapist and changing my chair, which I shall, but does anyone have any experience or advice on seating to look into?

Am not! I'm healthy for the most part, and the only pains I battle are my feet (which the cat attacks to wake me up) and my right shoulder which I damaged in a motorcycle accident many, many years ago and still gives me grief in damp weather.
And QA. But that goes without saying.

I find the sofa+Gordons combo the best solution.

I found that lot depends on individuals, however I would recommend a few things
1, mesh back (not that important for posture but a lot better than sweaty cloth
2, floating back - adjustable for pressure a gentle pressure applied to you back t o maintain posture
3, linked base and back this eases pressure on lower back when changing position
4, adjustable seat (most are fixed and if they don't suit you can leas to excessive pressure on legs/lower back
5, head restraint
6, adjustable arms rests
7, tension adjusters on all moving parts
and most important of all
a adjustable backrest that actually works and does not rely on a cheap screw clamp that doesn't hold it in postion

A woman who I used to work with had one that looked like one of those posturite and swore by the tailored fit- they measured her body & adjusted it to fit her specifically. Somehow, she didn't have to pay for it herself, I don't know whether it was the company who paid or some disability benefit.
Of course, when she left, it was no good for anybody else, cos nobody was the same shape - she had a couple at home from previous employments, too.

My physio did say they have a responsibility to look after me and if they kick up a fuss to put them on to him.

I would recommend that you try the chair before you buy as even an expensive one may not suit you

That's what worries me about a dedicated department looking at the problem, even if that department is just one person. They'll be more happy to throw money at it than time.

one option is to research and find the best chair for you and ask for that, their are a few companies that can help or google in a pinch

A few years back I discovered (more or less by chance) that despite crappy office chairs causing pain in my lower back if I sit in them for extended periods without taking a walk every 45 min or so, what my back demands to be happy is a back that's as tall as it is and as broad as my shoulders.

I avoid chairs altogether.
If you cannot handle standing all day, switch back and forth between standing and sitting.
