You'd hate sitting next to me then man. My voice carries. Just is what it is. And in case you're wondering, why yes I did grow up in a family of over-talkers that never wanted to let anyone else get a word in edge-wise.

loud talkers at the table in my family usually happens during intervention. I grew up in a family in which some had spurts of loud talking. It was mostly me but some family members would talk loudly at times during dinner but not every time. As far as work, it was different with most yelling after you did something wrong. I did not experience this as much after my first few weeks because after that I started becoming used to the environment and was able to perform better and not make as many mistakes or fix them before they turned into problems. I do not talk loudly as much now. I guess it might have had something with ear wax build up. No kidding! I even had the doctor come in and blast it all out of my ears when I was 12-13 (Name of the tool???).
Anyways, I have very few things that make me angry or have a need to shout.

my 2 sprogs come back from school and talk to each other like they are shouting across the school yard....think they forget they are standing next to each other with no background noise.

I'm all for young 'uns talking animatedly. Matter of fact, that's a joy to behold. What gets me is adults who lack courtesy.

Yes, very annoying!
And I'm afraid I'm one of them... I just can't help it, but sometimes I talk loud and I don't even know it.
I tend to get a little less loud in the (late) evenings when I'm just chilling on the couch.
Try setting up a meeting in that environment and your problem is solved

Yes sadly we are, one is a junior programmer who's scouse (Liverpool) accent get more prominent the louder he gets.
And also we have a member of the accounts team who I can only describe as a ladette, but she is a nice person too.

Well there is one thing about getting old, you get senior discounts. I am not 60, yet, but have grey hair (what I have). So different places give me a discount without my asking. And I am not going to tell them different.
Got a small discount at lunch. Hey, every little bit counts.
