Why in the name of [insert your diety here] are you using MySQL? It was crap when I looked at it (numerous times) over the years, and while I've heard it's gotten better, I am personally rather gun shy of it given its inauspicious beginnings (IMO)

Alright, so I had decided today would be pizza lunch day, and thought I'd get a medium pizza from Donatos (Ohio-only I think). I call the number I got via Google (they auto-locate the nearest place for you), and asked for a medium pizza, 1/2 beef mariachi and 1/2 pepperoni. The conversation went something like this :
"I'd like to order a medium pizza please, 1/2 beef mariachi, 1/2 pepperoni"
"Uhm, I can do a 1/2 beef and 1/2 pepperoni"
"Oh"
"Yeah"
"Well, are you out of mariachi sauce?"
"No, this is Dominos" (slightly annoyed tone)
"Oh, well. Uhm, what's your closest equivalent?" (this is like calling an Apple store and ordering a Surface Pro - I must have stupidly googled Dominos)
"I think they use jalapeno"
"Okay, can you do 1/2 beef, jalapeno, mushroom, and 1/2 pepperoni?"
"Sure can do. That'll be 10.75. 12-15 minutes"
So I drive over and the guy who answered the phone greets me. I notice they have a 3-topping large pizza special for 7.99. You don't get it for the medium, go figure! I mused about this aloud trying to break the awkwardness (which may partly have been my imagination). He said he could ring up my pizza for 7.99 for me. Nice of him I thought. I had already taken out 13 bucks in change, and I took a dollar out and gave him 12. Overall I saved a dollar and he got a nice 50% tip (not a big amount obviously on such a small amount).
"You got some crushed peppers for me?"
"Sure" (and he gives me about 7-8 packets).
Lots of bro-camaraderie at this point, something that can only work between a programmer and a pizza guy I guess. Well, that's all I have. The pizza was good. And no, I don't really know how to give you your 3 minutes back.

I always get Donatos, and haven't had Dominos in ages, so maybe that lack of recent familiarity helped make it seem tastier.

When I was younger, and slightly more immature than I am now ( I assure this is possible).
We use to phone Domino's and the coversation would go something like this.
"Do you Deliver"
"Yes, we deliver"
"Good can I have a Liver and Bacon Pizza please"
"We don't do Liver"
"But you just told me you do Liver"
"No we DELIVER"
"Good that's what I want, with some Bacon as well please"
"No sir I said we Deliver"
"Good. Can you make it double Liver, and are you able to bring it to my house too."
The idea was to see how long you can keep it going.

One of the platform managers is leaving and his troops on the various platforms he worked with, pulled this together and even reached round the world to get guys that have also moved on to other parts of globe.
Being the offshore workforce, the language can be a little bit fruity.

I seem to recall where a bunch of navy guys did a slightly ribald dance routine years ago and were roundly castigated for their effrontery. Never could understand that, like them you poor buggers are stuck in the middle of the ocean for extended periods, and they expect you not to let off a little steam.
At least you guys get better paid and probably shorter stints.
