"May the Force* be with you" is a Signature Line from Star Wars, in which it is said by many characters when parting (much like we might say "farewell" or "goodbye").
Fans have decided that the fourth of May should be international Star Wars day, mainly so that they have an excuse to use the punny line "May the 4th be with you."
