Heathen! Steak au roquefort[^]
Seriously though, the St Agur sauce is superb! Don't knock it till you have tried it!

Well, I guess if I had to eat French steaks, perhaps I'd need to cover up the taste, too. Here, our steaks taste quite good and we don't need to hide the natural taste.

Actually I fond US steak a bit lacking in flavor. It might be tender, but its a bit bland.

Ummm, "cheese steak?"
While I love a good steak, and the only salad dressing I order is bleu cheese, they don't belong on the same plate. Deglaze the pan with a good merlot, and saute some portabello shrooms in it for a topping, by all means, but don't ruin the meat with cheese. Order a cheeseburger instead, if you must.

Hahahahaha! that's good, very good. I might have to go with it, even though its a damn tasty sauce!

For the naysayers who think that blue cheese could never go with steak, try it! You're in for a great surprise.
"Steak au bleu d'Amish" would be a good (and descriptive) name. "Damish steak" if you must...

Those who sign up, make a brief foray into the Lounge, post a bit and leave after a short period, bored or offended or getting a life. I bet there have been hundreds if not thousands of them.
The permanent fixtures are few and far apart. Even fewer are those with less than four digit member IDs.
Then there are the sock puppets. I would post under my real identity, but that is too risky nowadays. Though we theoretically have freedom of expression, even the most casual statement could be misconstrued and come back to bite you on the behind. Since what is released onto the internet can never be truely retracted, it is not worth the risk.
I wonder how many members would be left if inactive accounts were wiped and members renumbered? (Remeber RENUM from the bad old days when editors couldn't move the caret location vertically? Like that) Around three times the online count, accounting for time zones? Maybe add another 50k for sporadic visitors?

I made the decision a while back to post under my real name. I do find myself thinking a little harder about what I post but that can't be a bad thing. The notion that you can say whatever you want is fine but just because you can doesn't mean you should.
I'm sure I've made some contentious statements in the past and may well do so in the future but nothing I would be ashamed of or would be afraid to repeat.
It's a choice, I suppose: hide behind a pseudonym and say whatever you want or use your real name and think about what you say. I prefer the latter.

That's odd, you are just as offensive as when you were legal alien.

I don't post whatever I like just because I'm using a pseudonym, I post the same way as when using my real identity. In fact I've posted more offensive stuff under my real name.

A thousand? Probably way less even.

Since there are around 70K online right now, I think a thousand is a bit low.

There might be, but the OP was about active users: 'make a brief foray into the Lounge'. I don't see 70k people posting here.
If there were, every other post wouldn't be from Dave or Nagy otherwise.

Yeah, add the few in SB1. In terms of 'community' it isn't massive. I am sure most just sign up, have a look, and move on. When was the last time 'fresh meat' came into the lounge for example?

Thinking back, I didn't venture into the Lounge for awhile after signing up. Sometime later I explored this rabbit hole.
So, I wonder what the other 69K users are here for?...answers? articles?
