Could not access my front porch. The dead-bolt on the front door broke and could not be retracted. 
Off to Home Depot, and then Canadian Tire to find a lock set that matched the one I have, as I didn't want the go through the hassle of generating new keys and handle the key distribution.

I found it interesting that the same time I was having issues with Locks in code I was working on, I had a Lock issue in real life.
I'm also looking a security and authentication for some web APIs, and was trying to determine if I needed to manage Encryption Key distribution.
Sometimes Life follows Code.

We had a resource locking issue at work Friday. All of the PCs are linked through a 24 port switch which has a UPS connected to it. The UPS failed, and the accountant kept whining and sniveling about the beeping; she was more annoying than the beeps, frankly. So I unplugged the damned thing and swapped in a backup UPS. Whoops. Now the CMS software AND the Peachtree accounting software refuse to perform a backup. The error reported indicates that another user is in the files requested and the operation can't be performed. Yeah, a locking issue for sure. I was raised to tell the truth, salute the flag, respect my elders, and never lock a record or table, or even maintain an open connection to a database one microsecond longer than needed. Both programs were open on PCs, but neither in use by anyone while I was making the swap, and this should never have happened!
It was simple enough to rename everything called *.lck to something else, but it should never have broke in the first place!

If I were you, I would worry about my computer getting infected by a nasty virus!

I feel your pain. My Jeep decided this morning it was going to lock all the doors after I had started the engine. It ran in my driveway for over an hour until a locksmith arrived.

I wish it was a matter of just opening the door  . I was carrying bags to put in the passenger seat and I reached over to start it from that side. I shut the door and proceeded to walk around the vehicle to the driver side as I have done 1000 times before. Upon arriving at said destination, I discovered all the doors were locked.
On the up side, I did learn how to "unlock" just about any vehicle with a couple nifty devices that can be purchased on the internet.

In other news a 25 year old with two very young children whose mum died when she was 11 has also died.
I think that is sad.
Although the internet is currently awash with nasty comments and unpleasant jokes about her.
Neither will effect me personally in anyway.

Had to do some last minute shopping for the Mrs today. One item was stockings. Did you know that in addition to color, they have a pressure setting too? WTF. As if the crazy color names like camel beige weren't bad enough, you have to know how many hPa she is.
At least it has a number that makes sense. The colors should be defined the same way, in RGB values.
